So, I guess that mailing list on the website that specifically says "Be notified when new tickets are available by entering your email address" was a complete waste of time.

agreed- it seems like twitter was the only 'heads up'. I guess they are following Donald Trump's campaign of getting the word out on twitter first. What would hamilton think?

In a "panic," I bought three tickets tonight for a date that might not work for all members of my party. I searched and searched for other dates (with plans to then just resell the ones I had), but it was too late by the time I came home and searched again. They are far side, rear orchestra seats, so not great (intermission ended just as I had really great seats in my cart, *shakes fist*). I am, of course, worried about legitimacy and would assume people wouldn't want to trade three far side, rear orchestra seats for something better, but trading is my preference over reselling them.
I'm not looking to trade them in this thread; I just wonder if there are legitimate routes through which to trade, other than StubHub (of which I've heard some horror stories).
"
A friend just had to sell tickets for one weekend and buy tickets for another due to a family emergency. It wasn't exactly an exchange but on resale it ended up being pretty much a wash.

I admit I hadn't even thought of that (perhaps that's naive of me. Thanks for the idea, ChiTheaterFan; definitely something to think about...

Kind of crappy that they didn't email those who asked for updates. Yes...who doesn't have Facebook or Twitter these days, but still a tad sneaky or dare I say Burr-like? Congrats to those who are the true fans and were able to get face value tickets tonight! I think this evening was a win for the fans and not the scalpers at last. Hoping that more released are at off points or sporadic. Ironically, this sneak release will only generate more BUZZ for the Hamilton machine.

I managed to get a 3rd row center, front mezz seat for January. $199 ($213 with fees) - the most I've ever spent on a ticket to a show. I'm sure most of the original cast will have moved on by then, but I'm hoping it'll be worth it.
I'm still going to keep trying to win that digital lottery.

Wow. In less than 2 hours a ton of tickets that go on sale with no notice are gone. The power of this show is unbelievable.
Or the power of the scalpers' software to buy up huge numbers of tickets quickly before other people can get them, and then resell them for fifteen times the face value.

Definitely don't know how many tickets they released, but remember it was MORE tix for already sold dates.

Well there's no way to prove how many scalpers got tickets or not as other tickets for these dates had already been sold but judging by the large amounts of people who managed to get tickets on these boards and on Twitter, I don't think the scalpers got as many as usual. It was definitely easier to get tickets this time than it was the last time they put a block on sale.
Also let's be real even if the scalpers didn't exist, all of the tickets would be gone by now anyway.

I'm guessing there were fewer than 1500 tix released. An e-mail to 25,000 (wild guess) folks on the mailing list would result in 24,000 pissed off Hamilton fans who got an e-mail and got shut out. As someone else said, this was not a new date release but additional seats for existing shows, which is not what the e-mail list promises.

There were also quite a few American Express preferred seats available for each date as well.

No more NYC for me (I've seen 3x by June) I'll be trying my luck in Chicago and the touring production (already announced it is coming to my neck of the woods!)

Yeah, but at least those tickets would be in the hands of people who actually wanted to see the show, and not in the hands of greedy jerks with bulk-buying computer programs.

Right, but I think in this case a lot are! Everyone who saw that tweet within 90 minutes or so of it being posted would have been able to get tickets for some dates. I didn't buy any tickets (happy to wait for the London production now) but went on a few times just to see how easy it would be and there were lots available.

I know I'm going out on a limb here. If anyone has 2 tickets for any date that they don't want (why that would be, I don't know) or for some reason can't use, I know somebody who would like them :). After buying tickets last night for some friends who have been trying to get them forever (and none for myself), my mom decided to tell me that she would have loved to go with my dad. By that time, everything was gone so, now I feel terrible and figured I'd try my luck here.
Congrats to all of those who got tickets!

If you don't have any luck, I reckon there will be tickets for January onwards going on sale just after the Tonys so keep your eyes peeled. :)

Ah thank you! That's great to know. I was so busy buying tickets for other people that I knew wanted them that I never even thought of my parents which makes me feel like the absolute worst.
But thank you again, I will definitely keep my eyes peeled!

I was asleep in bed and then my boyfriend wakes me up excitedly to say HAMILTON TICKETS are on sale, and he got us 2 orchestra seats for January. I was so excited that it took me 3 hours to get back to sleep.

I got $199 orchestra row C (on the side but not the far side), and I am SHOCKED. Totally ecstatic, but shocked. Glad I happened to be on Facebook at the time and have a lot of Hamilton-Loving friends! This whole thing is just insane.

Congrats to all who got tickets! I missed out, but I would have been buying for friends and family anyway.
I see the Hamilton producers have mastered the element of surprise! Good job.

A friend of mine was at the box office today. They have no additional tickets from the release. Someone from the box office said the release was apparently of tickets sold to fake TM accounts and TM closed them, cancelled the orders, and released all of the tickets. So I guess they are trying to do something about some of the issues.... I wonder if there will be another release if this happened again with some of the tickets from this release?
