Okay I am really sorry to be that person yet again. How long is the original cast of Hamilton contracted to be in the show? I have tickets for next January and am curious about what my odds are to see a mostly intact original cast.

Odds are not EVERYONE will be there. Some may extend but I wouldn't count on seeing everybody out of Lin, Leslie, Philippa, Renee, Jonathan, Christopher, Daveed, etc.

Impossible to predict. Until either a departure date or news of a new contract is made public, any comments that could be made are purely speculation.
Next Jan....I wouldn't expect too many of the original leads to still be around. But, truly, the star is the show.

What about the last of June/first of July? When would expect the first OBC departures? I read somewhere on here it was thought mid-July, but again all may be speculation.

Some ensemble members are already different. I doubt Lin will stay past July. He has Mona to work on and he seems exhausted.

So, if the entire cast signed one-year contracts, they would be due to leave around mid-to-late June. But it seems, of course, ridiculous to hit the Tonys in early June, pick up a number of statues, and then leave. My prediction is that most of the cast will extend through the summer, and we'll see a number of departures around Labor Day weekend, with the remaining original members out by New Year's. That's just my theory.

The only thing we can go on is past behavior, whereby Lin left In The Heights after his contracted one year, which also won Best Musical.

For me, when Leslie Odom leaves, I will lose interest in the show. I can't imagine Hamilton without Leslie.

Dumb question. Previews started July 13th and opening night was August 7.
I assume contracts run from the first day of previews. Any chance the contracts start on opening night?
I have tickets 7/23 and starting to get nervous.

Not sure how it works on Broadway. In the West End; it's from the first day of rehearsal.

Groff has a concert on Saturday, July 16th at 8pm so my guess is he will already be out of Hamilton by then.

I may be wrong but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I think when someone says they want to see the Original Broadway Cast they are referring to those that are in leading roles.
FYI: I am in no way trying to diminish the importance of anyone that is or has been part of the ensemble.

I agree CarlosAlberto. While I have 110% respect for everyone in the company of Broadway shows, when I think someone says they want to see the OBC I certainly would assume moreso in terms of leads. While ensemble members are the backbone of musicals, in all honesty a lot could be interchangeable in terms of their impression on the audience only because they don't have much speaking lines and don't affect the story as much as the leads. Everyone does altogether fuse in unison to create a great performance, though.

I hope so to, but I have never seen it reported anywhere. If they filmed it, they would/should have had an audience, so it is not something easily kept a secret.

Sadly, if that is the case, the July 13th date seems to be the end of the one year contracts. I suspect with the buzz Hamilton has received, I wouldn't be surprised if a good portion of the cast already has something else lined up.
