My daughter received a Hamilton playbill signed by the original cast (well, 8 of them anyway lol) She is autistic and and I am having a hard time identifying the signatures of each cast member. She will not stop obsessing about them until she knows who’s signature is who’s....part of her autism symptoms. I was wondering if anyone is able to help ID these signatures. Thanks!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Yikes, it's a really tricky one! The only one I can say for sure is that Lin-Manuel is in the center in the silver Sharpie.
Pretty sure AC in the top right is Andrew Chappelle because there weren't any other ACs in the OBC (although that's not how he's signed anything I have from him).
I think Betsy Struxness is the bottom right part of the star, and Jonathan Groff is the far right part of the star.
yes, Lin is the silver signature in the center of the star. Oak (Okieriete Onaodowan) is the top right. I'm not positive about any others but I don't think any of the signatures are Chris Jackson, Renee Elise Goldsberry, or Daveed Diggs. Hope this helps!
Lin in silver, Oak in the top right, Rory on the top left. Quite confident about those.
Moving into more guesswork, the one to the right of Hamilton looks like a sloppy Leslie Odom Jr. It's not how he usually signs his name (He tends to get more fractured when he's rushing, not more simple) but I think that's his
Far right on the right arm of the star looks like Daveed to me. Again very simple, and without the running-out-of-ink-sharpies he often has, but the letter formation looks correct.
Bottom right arm of the star looks like it might be Betsy, as noted. Unusual on a boarderless playbill.
After that, I don't really know. To the left of Hamilton, I see a P and would again suggest a simplified Pippa perhaps? She's a signature I think I only have one example of and I don't know it well, but if I had to make a guess that would be it. Bottom left I have no idea, I think I may have an example of it and will look through my book tomorrow.
My daughter got it from a relative for Christmas. She lives in Massachusetts. She said she got it in NYC?? That’s all I know. ????? Thank you all so much! In comparing the few images I could find online and a general consensus of what you all said, I believe she is satisfied. Now tomorrow may be a totally different story. With her autism, she’ll ponder things during the night and sometimes she’ll wake up with more questions after we think “yesterday’s” obsession is over. This gift is truly a blessing to her! She hasn’t put it down since she got it!
I hate to say it, but I think the signatures may be forged. They don’t look like the stage door signatures, but they do look like ones currently for sale on eBay from known sellers of fake signatures. I really hope I’m wrong, but there are people selling identical ones on eBay, and the combination of the unlikely autographs (like having two different King Georges), and the uniformity of the inks makes me suspect this is one of them. I’m really sorry if you or a family member got defrauded.
I hope so too. She said she knew the person that got the signatures. ????? (I asked her after the question about where it came from lol) hopefully this person can be trusted. I did ask her about the two king Georges and she said her acquaintance said the signature is “king George” and “the Lafayette guy” She Didn’t know the other names she was given. I know it’s vague but that’s all I got lol

I thought this too. The "Oak" signature looks very sketchy to me. What is the month and year of your daughter's Playbill? They got rid of the borders on Playbills as of July 1st, 2016 and Jonathan Groff left the cast before 2016 according to IBDB so that makes me suspicious if one of those signatures is supposed to be his.
I really do hope it's legit but I'm not too confident about it.
Here’s just one example of the several eBay sellers who have implausibly large quantities of full cast signed items that are near identical to each other, including multiple signed Hamiltons that are the same as yours, right down to the silver Lin in the middle and the same signatures yours has in black around the outside. Again, I’m really sorry. And for your daughter, it may not matter, she can still love the Playbill.
I’m just going to hope it’s real and not say anything. She’s happy and that’s all that really matters to me. Being from La, and the tickets so expensive, this is the closest she’s going to get to seeing hamilton. She even got bonus points on a test bc the question asked who wrote the federalist papers.....she answered who wrote how many! Lol thank you all so much for all your help! I really appreciate it. Merry CHRISTmas to all!!
It's worth noting that Lin did sign a whole bunch of borderless ones exactly like that for the Flea market this year. I definitely won't say it's 100% fake, it's one of the ones where I wouldn't feel comfortable calling it either way. You are correct though, in that your daughter's happiness is the most important thing
Betsy Struxness left the show in March 2016, well before the borderless Playbills started. But if your daughter loves it, that's the important thing.
"What was the name of that cheese that I like?"
"you can't run away forever...but there's nothing wrong with getting a good head start"
"well I hope and I pray, that maybe someday, you'll walk in the room with my heart"
Hi! I have two things in common with you. One, I have an autistic son who is 14 and two, I can't believe I just bought a forged Hamltom "Playbill" On Mercari, a shopping site. Really angry with myself because I know better as the signatures looked suspect to me from the start but the guy argued with me and told me it was absolutely legit. Well it arrived today and first of all, it's not on a Playbill. This person is printing a photo of the logo on a sheet and signing scribbles. I will put a copy here if I can figure by out how. I can return mine today - no problem. It just arrived. And I KNOW your sweet friend was just trying to so something nice for your daughter. But I'm.worried about you because I know how exacting autistic kids can be and how particular and literal they tend to be. And the thought of you sitting there telling her this is this person's signature and that is another person's signature breaks my heart. So I want to tell you that I would like to try and get your daughter a legitimate signed document. There are no strings. I'm absolutely reputable and can hook you up with all sorts of things to verify my identity and credentials. I simply want to help - one mom to another. And because I should do something really nice for being this ignorant (your friend probably hasn't had experience with autographs. I do!! I used to collect them when I was younger. But I just got so excited. Sigh! Anyway, get in touch or post here if you're interested. And have a wonderful day. Anyway, let me know. <<edited by BWW staff>> PS yikes! Can't figure out how to post this. I will put it in my drop box or another doc and get a URL. Stay tuned.
Viva la difference! I know! Look at mine - on the glossy stock. Look at the Oak. I never saw the poster's signatures but have a feeling they're somewhat similar?
Anyway, hope you here from you mom of daughter with great taste in music! )
