Let's all light a candle to this dead Diva and to Dollypop for trying so hard to keep her memory alive.

No offense to Dollypop, but I have always considered it an inside joke (very inside?) that I just don't get. Enough already. It is not funny.

A "true legend" is someone like Bernadette Peters,Angela Lansbury,Chita Rivera,or Patti LuPone. Swit doesn't come close.

I think it's funny but I love TV's Swit.

I thought it was just sort of a hacky joke about Swit being washed up, but then I saw MASH and discovered that she was a one hit wonder... but what a hit!
Maybe in thirty years we’ll be suggesting Melanie Lynskey for every female role younger than Granny Addams.

What is wrong in wishing a star of her magnitude a Happy Birthday?

Based on your postings about Loretta Swit over the years, I have always interpreted them as snarky. If that was not your intention, i apologize; i that was your intention, I think we have had enough snakiness over the past 4 years.

Loretta Swit as Agnes Gooch in the 1969 Las Vegas production of MAME which starred Susan Hayward.

Wait . . .WHAT?
Not to derail a Loretta Swit Love/Hate Fest, I’ve always been fascinated by Susan Hayward in MAME. There’s precious little info I’ve been able to find. Anybody see her or have any first-hand experience.

Wishing Loretta Swit a very happy belated birthday - - - I'm not understanding the "hate" on display for her in this thread.
Swit played "Gooch" opposite both Hayward and Celeste Holm. She also played Mame in 1996 at the Westbury Music Fair.

Can you imagine doing that show, multiple times a week, at Midnight? Was this standard in Las Vegas in the late sixties to have the second show at Midnight?
