Well! We're just weeks away from a slew of new and returning shows on Broadway.
I was trying to think about how a new show traditionally works: 4/5 weeks for rehearsals, then moving into the theatre, technical rehearsals and run throughs for maybe 2 weeks?
Do we know if any shows are in the rehearsal spaces yet?
I'd be very curious to see if people are wearing masks when not in front of an audience. Just for an added sense of safety and to ensure making it onstage.
It isn't Broadway, but the Wicked tour cast and crew are in Dallas gearing up for their run beginning on August 3rd.
I feel like most of the September opening shows will start rehearsals in the next few weeks.
Doubtfire posted a cute picture yesterday on its social media handles of the kids and McClure playing "broomstick guitar" at New 42.
I expect we'll see more and more creep out on social media over these coming weeks.
I’ve really been looking forward to seeing videos of casts first day back in rehearsal.

I think that’s an old photo - some of the pictures further down from when they first started rehearsals for Seattle have the cast members in the same outfits as they’re wearing in the new post.
While it's only the West End, this video from The Lion King back in rehearsals WRECKED ME.

Yeah that’s exactly the kind of stuff I’ve been waiting for. SO MANY TEARS.
Chills...
Honestly that’s 100% the kind of thing I knew we’d get and we’re only a couple weeks away from getting those videos from Broadway casts. I. Can’t. Wait.

James Snyder is a friend of mine and he and his family have been "weathering the storm" in CA--which is the home state of him and his wife. He's posted that they have started the long drive back to NYC (along Route 66) for the CURSED CHILD rehearsals.
I always thought that due to union rehearsals were limited to a certain amount of days or weeks. Did I make that up in my head or is there any truth to it?

And while we're on the subject of The Lion King and that emotional first "Circle of Life" back captured on video during rehearsal, current B'way Mufasa L. Steven Taylor posted on his Instagram page earlier today that "we start rehearsals in just a few weeks...".
This should say something about most of the September openings and where they stand in terms of preparation.

Wicked in Dallas went into tech sometime last week, they're in the final stretch. I'll be there on day one, excited to report on it.

I'm pretty sure that Wicked cast is gonna get overtime simply for the amount of cheering there will be once Glinda says "it's good to see me, isn't it?"
