A Chorus Line and the titular song from Lippa's "Wild Party"
They're GREAT
"...But Kungurtseva reels off multiple fouettes and the tape is stopped so she can take a bow. The Jester, an abomination introduced to Swan Lake in Soviet times, extorts applause from the audience. The cuts don't help the storytelling, the production is bare bones and they go for the '50s-style happy ending.
The audience cheers like mad at the end. It's the Russian ballet, after all..."
Dayam! I actually dont work out. But I do listen to some really upbeat stuff when I am cleaning my house... it is a total Longtime Companion moment when Dreamgirls kicks into high gear and I have a feather duster.... roflmao
I have a "Showtunes" playlist, but I can't listen to it when I work out. I find that I start to sing along, and people really look at me weird when I'm bench pressing and singing along to "A Boy Like That" or "Cell Block Tango". Perhaps I should try a different gym?
I do listen to it at work, if that counts. What's on my Ipod? West Side Story, Chicago (revival cast recording), Gypsy, Crazy for You, Hair, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Rent, some Sondheim stuff, The Full Monty, The Wiz .... amongst others.
"I love America more than any other country in the world, and exactly for this reason, I insist on the right to criticize her perpetually."
- James Baldwin
La Vie Boheme and Rent are fun, as are 30/90 and Green, Green dress from TTB. Oh! And Purpose from Ave Q.*giggle* I'm a loser though and I was listening to Jersey Boys last night at the Gym. But hey, Decemeber '63 (oh what a night)(& Ces Soirèes La for that matter) have the most fun background beat ever! And just thinking about Daniel Reichard and Dominic Nolfi motivate me
Um ok sure but I have abt 7 hrs of good showtunes. RENT IS MEANT TO WORK OUT TO BTW-my issue is I get so into it. I can never workout in public and listen to La Vie Boheme (I've actually been asked to stop loooking so crazy I'm scaring ppl) cuz im insane-but I'm calmer for the rest. I try no to have too much of any musical but specifically RENT cuz it's rlly fast paced and I'm out of shape
ol ideas:
something rotten has some good ones. All that jazz is my fave. Hair, king of ny is a little gem, Millie (the speed test), Hamilton is a must, and rlly anything Sondheim HOPE I CAN BE OF ASSISTANCE
