Saw Jason Kravitz on the subway the day after seeing him in Drowsey. Didn't want to approach him, just let him be.
Not a broadway performer but Jillian from season 4 of Project Runway sat next to me on the LIRR heading to Penn one day
Saw half the Spring Awakening cast on the downtown N a week or so after the show opened.
Kelli O'Hara (twice)
Barbara Walsh

I rode the subway with Tim Howar. It's kind of a funny story. We were talking after the show in front of the theatre. And we both started walking and talking and before I knew it we were in the subway together on the same platform. This was when he first started the show and he joked about how he found it sad that he was in NYC for a few weeks and he still couldn't figure out the NYC subway system.
I saw Patrick Page on the subway on a Sunday afternoon prior to a matinee of The Lion King. I approached him and said that I enjoy his performances and had a nice mini converstation before I exited the train. I have seen Cary Shields in McDonalds since people were mentioning that as well.
I can't believe so few people actually have. It's happened to me a bunch of times and I don't even live there.
Only said something once; we were standing 2 feet away, so my friend said we were going to see his show that night, and then we went back to our own conversation.
I saw Helen Mirren and her husband on the Q last year. I am dead serious. I normally wouldn't say anything, but I was in such disbelief that a woman of Ms. Mirren's stature would be on the subway that I asked if she was, indeed, Helen Mirren, and she said yes. Other people saw and started staring, and she bolted at the next stop.
Geoffrey Rush doesn't have a license to drive a car, so he is always on the train...how ever I'm never on his line.
My friend Jarrod though has sat next to him on the train, and while he was writing a text message Rush sneaked a peak at what he was writing, which made my friend pretty special.
Otherwise even though I take the train all the time I've never been on the train with anyone exciting.
One evening several months ago, I saw Tommy Tune walk down the stairs and onto the platform of the downtown 1/2/3 at Times Square. He was looking smart as usual in a blue suit and saddle shoes. After a few paces, he realized that he was on the wrong platform, did a kick ball change and headed back up the stairs. Okay, not a kick ball change, but a very graceful turn. I watched him walk towards the S and then he turned and disappeared down the stairs to the N/R/W. I was VERY surprised to see him, I'd expect him to cab it. But judging by his confusion, if he was heading home he wasn't used to taking the train.
This is not Broadway persay, but once when I was walking home from babysitting my cousins at about 11 p.m. I saw Steven Goldsmith from Jersey Boys (Chicago) walking to a bus stop near the Sheridan El stop. I did like a triple-take, haha. And once my friend saw Telly Leung walking down the street when he was still Boq in Wicked here.
how weird - i saw chris noth on the subway today, after posting about my good theater subway karma!

Gideon Glick and Jonathan Wright the night after I saw Spring Awakening in January '07. Thoroughly embarassed myself by telling them how much I enjoyed the show. Wright looked at me like I had three heads.

I also walked down into the subway with Tim Howar while talking to him after a show, and he ended up paying my fare.
I was going to Hair this summer, and Jim Rado got on the C, also going to the Delacorte, and I ended up following him to the theater. I also saw Lauren Molina on the C, also going to Hair another day.

Umm...how else do you expect people to get around in New York? Taxis and car services for tourists usually tie up the streets. Why is it surprising to see a Broadway performer on the subway? Guess what...they also walk on the streets, eat at restaurants...and believe it or not, they poop.
I agree completely with orangeskittles. I'm always seeing performers when I go to NYC. On the street, at restaurants, in the subway stations. I usually don't bother talking to them because I'm always talking to my mother, but whatevs.
But one time I was recognized on the subway and in the airport by two different people after being a speller in Spelling Bee.
I have a bad habit of sometimes talking the words that I am typing. Either on the computer or when I am writing a text etc. There was one day where I was on the uptown Q train and with my last bit of service down there I was sending a text talking to my friend about how I wanted to see A Chorus Line. I saw a woman smile and look at me. So, of course I asked why she was staring at me. She had said that she was in the show. Turned out it was Mara Davi.
Also, something I forgot to add to my Tim Howar story. He commented about how he hadn't been in NYC for a few years and was happy to be back in the city. He spoke about how he found it sad that he only knew how to get to work and to his apartment via the subway. And, that if he wanted to do anything like walk around and explore the city then he was totally F*CKed.
John Gallagher Jr. all the time. I assume he lives in my neighborhood, since I frequently see him getting on and off at the Astoria Boulevard stop on the N/W line.
I rarely see anyone, I guess I'm just oblivious.
not kristin chenoweth because she doesn't take the subway.
