Hello!

Hello!
I just wanted to say hello to everybody on here. I am a frequent theatergoer and fan and my grandson recommended I join a fan club for musical theatre. He did some research and found this board for me and helped me set up an account, and I figured I would introduce myself. I go see shows all the time in New York, but I've been disappointed in shows for the past decade or so, but there is always good theatre to go see in New York somewhere, you just have to find it. The first show I ever saw on Broadway was She Loves Me, which I don't remember too much about other than being quite cheerful. The best thing I ever saw in all my life was Ethel Merman in Hello, Dolly!, and I have never seen anything quite as good as that. I hope to have some fun here on this forum!

Hello!

Hi! Welcome to the boards. :)
#5

Hello!

Why is everyone being so nice? Not that I mind, it's just freaking me out.

Hello!

^We're welcoming a brand new member. It would be extremely rude form if we weren't giving new members a nice hello.

Hello!

I was totally expecting something Book of Mormon related, but hi there! Welcome to the boards.

Hello!

Hello...."Hello Ethel": I'm sure you'll do fine in here. This board can get a bit vicious at times. But, since you probably have a great deal of experience working with children, you'll do o.k. in this board. Most people in here are decent and very knowledgeable about all things theatre.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Hello!

Welcome from me too (and I LOVED She Loves Me!!).

Hello!

Nothing good has ever come from a poster who felt the need to introduce him- or herself.

And nothing good will come of this.

Your grandson should have warned you. You just put a curse on yourself, "Grandma."

Hello!

Interestingly, the role of Dolly Levi was actually written for Merman but she turned it down, as did Mary Martin. But Ethel was the last Broadway Dolly when she took the role in 1970.

Hello!

Well thank you all for the warm welcome, and also to "Pal Joey" for being insufferably rude, or possibly sarcastic. Thank you in particular to "Sally Durant Plummer" for the link to that other post, and if "best 12 bars" is still on the site, thank you to him or her for that post, which was very nice to read.

Hello!

PalJoey was being sarcastic. He's actually pretty insightful and wise, especially when it comes down to Follies. Hope you enjoy your time here! Hello!
#21

Hello!

Alright, well apologies to "Pal Joey" if he actually was being sarcastic. My grandson did warn me about nasty posters and I've got my guard up whilst waiting for them.
#22

Hello!

Don't worry Ethel, most of the time they are sarcastic and a lot of them are really smart. I think you'll fit in perfectly.
#23

Hello!

Hello and welcome! Hello! I think it's very cool that you got to see Ethel Merman in "Hello, Dolly!"

Hello!

Your grandson played a nasty trick on you, kind of like pushing you down a flight of stairs.

Did your grandson neglect to tell you that starting a thread that basically says "Hello, I'm New Here! Don't Be Mean to Me" is pretty much the same thing as saying, "Hello, I'm an Attention Whore!"?

What your grandson neglected to tell you was that new posters just make screen names and start posting. The only people who make threads called "Hello! Look At Me! Look At Me! LOOK AT ME!" are the same old trolls who have been haunting the Internet since Al Gore got his first hard on.

Take my advice: If you're a real granny, delete this profile, start another and REFRAIN from starting with a thread like this.

And if your an old troll, what an asShole you are to do this again.
