I think the inclusion of "Too Tired" might be the only reason I'll be buying this CD, since much of the show really didn't do anything for me (and I love the book and movie). I loved it and was sad to hear it was cut - it was faithful to the source material (cynical but honest) and didn't make Rob and Laura's reunion feel artificial like "Wonderful Love" and "Laura, Laura" (or the I'm Sorry song, whatever it's called) did. Plus, Jenn sounded fantastic singing it. But anyway, main point is, I'm very happy they recorded it.
"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife

I just listened to the track samplers on the sh k boom site for Hi Fi and i am already addicted to the album. The energy sounds amazing- like a real rock album but you can also understand the lyrics- I cannot wait for this album!! I'm curious if other people have listened online and what their thoughts are. This score was WAY better than it has gotten credit for and I think the album will prove that.

Wonderful Love definitely didn't fit into the production, but I really would have loved to see it as a bonus track. It was a really beautiful song. But I'm so excited to hear Crying in the Rain and of course Conflict Resolution. Those were definite highlights for me.
I would like to check, though I assume this is the case, that they are honoring the pre-orders which were taken at the theatre. I saw someone post it in one of the other threads about this where they were then pointed towards this thread but they never asked it here.
FYI- I ordered mine on Sh-k-boom record website yesteday 5/25. I got an email today that my order was shipped today 4/26 I thought it was 'like" pre-order but I guess its NOT . Same case -- last year when I ordered Drowsy Chaperone CD 2 weeks earlier than the store release date and i got it really early. I hope I will get my CD by Saturday-J* Updated On: 4/26/07 at 03:52 PM
The rewrites in the score that didn't work on stage were mostly demanded by the producers and walter bobby. and we all know what a great job they did! I'm excited to hear Tom Kitt and Amanda Green's work and the vocal performances without having it filtered through that god-awful staging.
I got my CD today. The packaging is really neat. It's like the Sweet Charity and Little Shop revival CDs except the sturdy board folds out into three sections to reveal a three panel picture of the record store set. The actual CD is made to look like a record like the Hairspray and Drowsy Chaperone CDs and the booklet is included in the first board panel with the CD in the third.
I'm not finished listening to the CD yet, but so far I like the score. The only "bad" thing is that Nick Hornby provided a little write up and at the end talks about filing the CD in his soundtracks section. I can't believe no one called him out on that... Updated On: 4/30/07 at 05:27 PM
Has anyone told Bryan about this? He'll be so thrilled. However, we must make it clear that this does not mean that all the other shows he wants will get cast recordings.

ATTENTION FANS: I will be played by James Barbour in the upcoming musical, "BroadwayWorld: The Musical."
The CD --it is a 3 page sleeves (without any plastic case like regular CD) the cover is the black & yellow HIFI logo , inside the sleeves in the RECORD Store set and on right sleeve is the booklet for lyrics and pictures and the actual CD (which looks like a RECORD is in the left sleeves. I will post picture later
"Conflict" gets split into three tracks: the first is the Guns 'N Roses homage, the next was gangsta rap, and the last was the Eminem parody ("P***in' On Your Grave").
I've always thought that the part 2 of Conflict Resolution was a pretty obvious Beastie Boys homage, and the third part was gangsta rap.
I agree with sweetestsiren; the second part of Conflict Resolution is most definitely not gangsta rap. At any rate, I stand by my opinion that the Conflict Resolution sequence was one of the funniest things I've seen in my entire life. It doesn't translate well when just listening to the audio (it's still amusing, but the sequence was so visually-oriented), but watching the third part of that song had me tearing from laughter.
I guess with the money they saved from cutting corners with the album production (I have to say that the orchestrations sound a bit thin) they put into the packaging. It looks great, and although I'm somewhat regretting spending money on something I've already downloaded, it'll be nice to have the liner notes and to have supported the High Fidelity team members.
And BobbyBubby, considering your the many negative posts you made about the show (without having seen it, apparently) last year and your posts on this thread, I don't even think that you're giving the score a chance in purchasing the recording. It's admirable of you to make some sort of an effort, but your mind is already seemingly made up, so why bother even listening to it? To get angrier at the show and the music more than you already are? I generally enjoy your posts and don't mean to attack you, but I'm not entirely sure why you're even putting more thought and effort into something you've long decided is going to be awful.
