I cannot believe the amount of new scores that are coming in this season.
Let's keep track of them.
Definite
-Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (Music and Lyrics by Michael Friedman)
-The Scottsboro Boys (Music and Lyrics by Kander & Ebb)
-Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (Music and Lyrics by David Yazbek)
-Elf (Music and Lyrics by Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin)
-Wonderland (Music by Frank Wildhorn, Lyrics by Jack Murphy)
Strong possibilities
-Catch Me If You Can (Music by Marc Shaiman, Lyrics by Shaiman and Scott Wittman)
-Sister Act (Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Glenn Slater)
Possible
- Leap of Faith (Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Glenn Slater)
- Yank! (Music by Joseph Zellnik, Lyrics by David Zellnick)
- Spider Man - Turn off the Dark (Music and Lyrics by Bono and The Edge)
- Love Never Dies (Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Lyrics by Glenn Slater)
Slight possibilities
-Minsky's (Music by Charles Strouse, Lyrics by Susan Birkenhead)
-Little Miss Sunshine (Music and Lyrics by William Finn) *
*World premiere ends March 27. If perfect, I still doubt there's enough time to transfer.
I cannot believe we went from a season with two new scores to this. Amazing.
Thoughts? Am I missing anything?

I believe that Yank plans to come to Broadway this season.
Oh, yeah! Playbill.com doesn't list it. Let me add it.
Disregarding what the perceived quality of them would turn out to be, it would be quite an accomplishment for Glenn Slater if he had THREE of his scores premiere on Broadway in the same season. That would be a pretty cool feeling.
THE BOOK OF MORMON also features an original score, by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Bobby Lopez.
Bonnie & Clyde (Music by Frank Wildhorn, Lyrics by Don Black) is another possibility, after it's try-out in Sarasota. Those producers sounded like they had their eyes set on Broadway, though I don't know how ambitious Frank would be to open two new musicals in this strong a season!
Has anyone heard anything from the Yazbeck score for WOMEN yet?
SPIDER MAN will be opening in the fall. Everything is being loaded into the theatre. So that can be added to the definite list.
I thought Sister Act was a definite thing?
I am only considering shows that have secured a theater as "definite."
And Spiderman will never be a definite thing. It could surely open this fall, but I'm not adding it to the definite list.

One other slight possibility is Zhivago with music by Lucy Simon which will run eight weeks in Sydney beginning in February. More likely 2012 season.

Doctor Zhivago is running 8 weeks in Sydney and then 8 weeks in Melbourne, so not really possible for Broadway before the Tony deadline.

Which theatre is Wonderland going into?
It's going into an unannounced Nederlander Theatre. It's rumored for the Marquis. I'm not good with the individual theatre's specifications, but I know they're have to be an elevator and apparently they need fly space (but not sure for what exactly).
Also, what about REBECCA by Michael Kunze??
Wasn't that announced for 2010-2011, with some big signing on stage in Europe, and a big reading last fall with Sierra Boggess as "I"? Anyone know anything about what's going on with it?
wth Whoopi on board the production team... hopefully WHITE NOISE

i think anything that brings the financially viable and successful Frank wildhorn musicals back to broadway is a great thing. I mean the money people must have made from such Smash hits like Civil War, the scarlet pimpernel, and of course the decade long running Dracula seems astounding. I am sure wonderland will have the same magnanimous fate as those three musicals as well!
KUDOS!
I really cant believe we went from 2 to this!
Its really great to see a new plentiful set setting itself in NY
But out of thought...do creative teams/producers not consider holding pieces off a season when they see how many other new shows are also coming in during the same time?
I would just think that there would be more attention on a new piece in a rather dull season like this past one
Compared to last season's pathetic output, this is a real watershed.
