How much longer do you think these two shows will survive on Broadway? From my understanding they still seem to be hit shows. Especially Wicked.

Based on recent weekly grosses, many, many, many years. What were you thinking?

Yeah I don't see Wicked going anytime soon. I still don't get how Book of Mormon made it so huge on Broadway though. It's one of my all time favorite shows but man is some of the material crude.
I have a feeling wicked may see a slump when frozen comes along.
BoM will last at least another 4 years. Wicked will stay for longer
Who knows about wicked? I give Book of Mormon a strong 3 years.

I think one of the reasons that BofM does so well is the consistent ad strategy- even when it was a super hot sellout, they were taking TV ads, etc- saturation works
There will always be tourists and 13 year old girls just falling in love with theater - Wicked will last a long time.

wicked will run for longer than any of us can speculate and likely beat phantoms current run(how long has the wizard of oz been a classic, beloved hit? that would be 77 years and running)
Book of mormon is a more interesting animal-given the trend toward secularism and how great this show really is, I think it will run at least 10 years+
interesting thought that Frozen may dampen wicked sales for a while, or even possibly deal it a fatal blow (mercifiul OZ!)and replace it as the show of choice for that tween girl that only sees one musical on her big trip to nyc.. its certainly possible given that Frozen has been brainwashed into every kid in the world for the last several years....I somehow think Wicked will survive Frozen and thrive to be one of the all time long runs....
Mormon will last long enough for Gavin Creel to come in and play the Mission President.
^make this happen now!

Just 3 more strong years? I'd give it many more than that. I'm sure it will at least make it to 10, maybe more.
Wicked will probably be safe for another five to ten years. Then they'll produce a film version just to keep the stage show propped up for an extra five until they're forced to pull the plug. And after that it'll still tour ten or twenty years into the future.
Think "Wicked" is going to be one of those shows that may run forever - lol. BOM is incredibly funny and the humor will never seem "dated" IMO. I would be very surprised if it does not run at least another 10 years.

Between Frozen, and Paramour, I think Wicked, BoM, AND Hamilton might get some attention taken away. But Wicked and BoM are classic hits. Wicked is basically Phantom status now. It's not going anywhere anytime soon

The answer to the thread title question is mysteriously hidden in the Hamilton cast album on disc 1, track 7, from 2:01 to 2:11.

Well Paramour is running right now and it doesn't seem to be taking anything away from any of those shows? Definitely seems like that will close before any of the others.
As someone who is not a fan of Wicked, I cant imagine it closing anytime within the next 5-10 years. Book of Mormon seems like it could hang around for maybe another 5.

You know you're obsessed when you get this joke without having to check the tracklist again.

Oh my goodness, I needed that laugh. By far the most brilliant thing I've read in a while!
Also, I am sure Wicked is now classic status, as someone else mentioned. It won't be going anywhere for a long time, and tbh I hope it stays!
Good question. I think Wicked will last a few more years. They sellout with high school groups throughout the year. As for BoM, not sure. I think it still has a few more years left. It reminds me of what happened to Avenue Q, which I loved watching, yet parts of the show was racy and I don't think high school groups at the time went to see the show (or did they?) Anyway, they're still playing but in off-broadway. Perhaps that's what'll happen to BoM in 5-7 years?

The other day when I was on the train home from the city, I heard a lady behind me talking about how she thinks BoM is the next best thing SINCE Wicked... VERY questionable. Don't get me wrong, I liked BoM. It's clever. But would I consider it the NEXT best thing? No. Not at all. It's the kind of show you bring your non-musical loving friends to so they can get a good laugh. When it opened, it was basically at today's Hamilton status. It WAS the best thing... at the time...

So on our trip to New York earlier this month, we saw Wicked at my 16-year-old daughter's insistence even though it was playing on tour in our town and we had seen it before. Hey, she wanted to see it on Broadway. It wasn't my first choice, but I enjoyed it anyway because Rachel Tucker was really good as Elphaba. Lots of teenagers at the show. It's a very shrewdly marketed show, aimed at teen girls and everyone who ever saw The Wizard of Oz.
On the next night, we saw Book of Mormon. My wife loved it. My friend's daughter saw it the same day. I don't think it will last as long as Wicked, but the show was awfully crowded on a Sunday evening.
The supply of tourists wanting to see those shows isn't going away anytime soon.
