How will she have time and manage it? 8 shows a week and rehearsals for the tony show? She must be a superwoman. They should just give her the award now. She is wayyyy out in front and no one comes close to touching her.

It's not that unusual. Talk to Sean Hayes, Hugh Jackman, Nathan Lane, and I'm sure others. It in no way guarantees a win. Lane and Jackman were likely front runners regardless of their hosting duties.

It's been done before. And while, yes, it will take a bit more energy, the time on her job (the actual performance) is only a few hours a day. During previews, they rehearse during the day and perform at night. Really, no difference here.

And to the rest? Oy. LOTS of wonderful performances in her category.

Where are you getting that she's the frontrunner? It seems to me that it's Chita. (My point being that you can't say it's objective when the whole concept is based on opinions)

Oh please. It's pretty obvious Kristin is the front runner. She is giving the performance of her life and everyone knows that. Maybe if it was just a race between Chita and Kelli, then Chita might have a shot at the award. But lets be real. We all know Kristin is the wild card. Based on your logic, Leanne is the front runner. Lolz.

Um....you have no idea what "wild card" means. You are also talking nonsense. WE don't know anything of the sort.

She's nominated in a category where 3 different women (including her) could conceivably win, and it wouldn't be considered a surprise. Calling her the "front runner" is asinine.

Sean Hayes, Hugh Jackman, Nathan Lane, and I'm sure others.

Glenn Close co-hosted in 1995 when she was nominated (and won) for Sunset Boulevard, which was running at the time.

She hosted in 1992 when she was starring in Death & The Maiden, was nominated & won.

Kathleen Turner hosted in 1990 when she was starring in Cat on A Hot Tin Roof. She was nominated, but lost to Maggie Smith in Lettice & Lovage.

In terms of planning and rehearsing for Cheno and Cumming, while both working steadily at the moment... I have to cut in here to mention that I really think NPH has raised the bar for Tony hosting. His performance numbers and well-written monologues as a host (especially the past several years he's done it) were very impressive, and a show within itself honestly. Most other hosta of (nearly any) award show has most of their "bit" written for them, no? Whereas Neil, although having a writing team, had a LOT of say in what went into his hosting plans and ideas. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure most of Cheno's (and Cumming's) plans will be thought out and written and planned by others.

Yikes, let's not jump to conclusions... there are other women nominated in the category as well, most of whom have a great chance at winning instead of Kristin.

Every so often there was a rare moment of perfect balance when I soared above him.

I feel like either Chenoweth, O'Hara, or Rivera might win. I would be happy with any of the three if they did win. O'Hara playing one of the greatest female roles of all time, Rivera giving a great Broadway performance that might be her last, and Chenoweth worked her little butt off to play this difficult part that Madeline Kahn did well until she abruptly left a few months later in the original run.

But if I had to choose a side, I will be on team Kelli O'Hara, for I feel she's overdue.

While others have done the hosting gig, Cheno is a bit more injury-prone, so I worry about her over-extending herself.

I think Chita and Kelli are sentimental favorites for obvious reasons, which means they could split the vote and Kristin could scoot in. All three are giving fantastic performances but I'm giving Chita the edge at this point. She has been a beloved stalwart of the community for over 60 years and this is probably her swan song in terms of starring in a Brodway musical.

That was my first thought when she was announced, especially since she was out this past weekend.

It's really not a terribly taxing assignment unless you're one of the writers as well as the host. As another poster noted, being in previews with rehearsals each day and performances each night is much more strenuous.

I had tickets to the Saturday June 6th 8pm show and just got off the phone with ticketing because they had received notice that Kristin will not be in that performance due to Tony rehearsals. I'd had these tickets for almost a year and am from oot. Thankfully I was able to get good seats for the Thursday June 4 show and they refunded my Saturday tickets. I speficically asked about her performance schedule and the agent said that as of now they only had notice about the Saturday performances.

So...now the question is what do I replace OTTC with? Already have tickets to AAIP, FH, & TK&I.
