...it's pretty wonderful.
I saw it at the NYTW and then again on Broadway. Enchanting, hilarious, magical, magical, magical.
Glad you had the chance to fall in love with it.

Posted: 11/4/12 at 10:07pmI agree! I saw it twice and don't understand why it doesn't do better in ticket sales.

I also want to say that compared to what I saw back in August, Matthew Saldivar has really grown into his role. He's really upped the camp level and is just hilarious.

I love re-watching the video that was shot during rehearsals for the show when it was at the NYTW. Hearing them talk about the creative process and seeing them make magic.
Try to search for it (I believe one of the videos was shot by Andrew Keenan-Bolger?)

Jordan,
Here's one of the early threads on PATSC - in case you want to read what others were saying when it was at NYTW
Peter and the Starcatcher

Posted: 11/5/12 at 1:16amI still think it got robbed for Best Play.

Posted: 11/5/12 at 1:35amTK3, I agree. I thought it was brilliant. Claybourn Park was to full of itself and tricked you into thinking you just saw something " important". JMO

Posted: 11/5/12 at 1:49amI agree with you there. I know that opinion is in the minority, but I found Clybourne Park merely adequate entertainment at best.
#14I finally saw PETER & THE STARCATCHER Today
Posted: 11/5/12 at 2:35amI saw all 4 of the best play nominees last season and Clybourne Park was by far my least favorite. I absolutely adored Peter and the Starcatcher, magical really is the best way to describe it. I saw it twice with Borle and was completely enchanted both times.

Posted: 11/5/12 at 3:15amThank God it's going to tour/live a long life in regionals. Going from the White Way too soon. Maybe if it moved back off-broadway it could have a longer run?

Glad you liked it, too, Jordan! I was about to get away tear free, when I heard a 9 year old sob behind me. Then I lost it.
I got to see it twice, and loved it beyond words. So "theatrical".
I, too, will never understand how it won just about everything else it was nominated for, but failed to get the Best Play nod.

I think that this was truly magical. This past season was the first time that I saw all the plays that were up for the Tony. I have to say that Peter was the best one of the bunch. And, one of the most magical things that I have seen in a long time play or musical.
I am sad that this is closing soon. However, I think that for a play with an open ended run, it did rather well.

Posted: 11/5/12 at 9:49amI'm also beginning to think Celia deserved the Tony too. I thought Judith Light was great in ODC but Celia is just fantastic in Peter.

Posted: 11/5/12 at 9:52amI still think that Tony's rightful owner is Judith but Celia was so wonderful in this. I'm very excited that they're making a film out of this since film will only help to add more magic to the story and more tears, I'm sure. Lol

I never saw the other plays up for Best Play, but when I first saw this in August, I had to Google the results at intermission because I couldn't remember if Best Play was one of the awards they won.
I'm not entirely sure about my feelings about the movie yet. Part of me says I will hate it because all of that theater "magic" of ropes and yellow gloves etc. will not be in the movie, but the other half is thinking, omgaahh I can watch it over and over and it'll be more accessible!

#22I finally saw PETER & THE STARCATCHER Today
Posted: 11/5/12 at 11:45amOh, you have to see it. It's better than pretty much anything else playing on Broadway right now.
#23I finally saw PETER & THE STARCATCHER Today
Posted: 11/5/12 at 12:15pmIt's the rare production that makes you remember why you love going to, or working in, the theatre.
