Maybe the Billie Joe thread went the way of the Women on the Verge is closing early? thread that was up for 5 seconds and deleted before I could read it...

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Good, the negativity in that thread was so childish.
Of course hes coming in to the show to make the show money to keep it open, big deal. I say hats of to them for doing all they can to keep the show running, it's a smart move, at least it's not just throwing in the towel as quick as some other shows have. He loves the show and clearly enjoys the experience of playing in the show, i don't get what anyones problem is.
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna
i think the problem is the producers, cast directors etc, knowing that the show is not good enough to stand on its own so they need help badly from the only front man who will give it to them. the guy who wrote the music.
It's like if Dolly Parton came in to play doralee in "9-5". or Elton john came in to play billy's dad, its sad. it's sad because the show is not good enough to stand on its own legs. Without Billy Joe in the show, it would have closed on labor day.
So what do they do now..just keep bringing him in or will the show close on the night of his last performance..cause the producers know they cannot run it without him
Not to get into the stuff from the other thread, but this is not the same thing as if Dolly played Doralee in 9 to 5 or Elton John played the dad in BE. Billie Joe is (apparently) actually appropriate for the role.

Just because grosses are low doesn't mean the show "isn't good enough". Not making money does not automatically mean that a show is bad, just as mass appeal does not equal a great show. It just has a very specific audience.
I'm not denying that the producers aren't bringing him in to up the grosses, but to say that the show isn't good enough is blanketing your own opinion over it as if it's fact.
"Just because grosses are low doesn't mean the show "isn't good enough". Not making money does not automatically mean that a show is bad, just as mass appeal does not equal a great show. It just has a very specific audience. "
By "good enough", he clearly meant selling well enough to stay open on its own. And it's obvious that by that definition, AI, in fact, isn't "good enough."
Everything else is of course subjective, and not worth debating.
Yes I did ghostlight. I have no problem with likening the two. There was nothing rule breaking in that thread, just people who saw through the BS to the real reason he is being brought in.
"I actually don't think that's very clear at all, since the word "good" usually implies quality... but if I did misunderstand, I apologize."
Seemed pretty clear to me. *shrug*
