Idina Menzel will perform on UK X Factor on 7th December.
Anyone any idea what she will be performing?! I'm assuming it will be something from her Xmas album.
What does this mean for If/Theb? Will Jackie Burns go on instead?!

Interesting during the promo on the show they mentioned two performers next weekend. Idina Menzel and Sam Bailey would be performing. Never heard a mention of Michael Buble. A surprise possibly?

These things aren't pre-taped, are they? Dec 7 Sunday on Ticketmaster clearly does NOT state that Menzel will be out, and they've been good about noting future absences.
Between the 8 shows, jet lag, other Dec holiday appearances, a kid, I dunno...

Posted: 12/1/14 at 2:48pmShe looks stunning while doing it! She was up at four AM for the Today Show with not a trace of tiredness on her face.... I assume that she will have to be absent for the show though. Perhaps they will announce it soon?

Posted: 12/1/14 at 2:56pmI can only assume it has to be pretaped right? I mean her work ethic is borderline inhuman but she is not. Even she can't be in two continents at once.

^Haha!
Also factor in over 14 hours lost just from travel.

That's called makeup.
IMO, it wouldn't make sense for Menzel to miss a single weekend show in December for something like that (unless IF/THEN was suuuper close to recouping or something). Surely the musical takes precedence, and I think the advance sales for that Sunday appear decent; wouldn't want unhappy refunds, right? There's no Monday replacement show either. I'm leaning towards pre-taped, but I have no idea how that works.

I don't believe I have ever seen a pre-taped performance on the X Factor. They usually come out and perform one guest prior to who is in the sing off and next guest performs right after they announce two contestants in the sing off.
Should prove interesting.

it still doesn't explain how she will manage this with If/Then!

Well, let's say 1-way from NYC to London is about 7.5 hours on average.
London is 5 hours ahead of NYC.
Air time for this X-Factor is Sunday December 7 at 8:00pm London time (I think) and performers should probably get there hours early...
Menzel has 2 shows on Saturday, ending around 11pm without stage dooring.
Then her 3pm show Sunday.
?????
Yeah, I can't make head or tails of that. We'll see. I mean, missing a December weekend seems pretty awful for a guest spot, so Menzel would probably make a huge effort not to do that. Doing a last minute slot-in with Burns would not go over well with the tourists especially this time of year. What.

Ah, if pre-rec is well within the realm of possibility, then I'd still lean towards that as what Menzel would do (or has done) for this. Seems a lot more reasonable than trying to squeeze in the time between Saturday and Sunday shows, especially with Ticketmaster not noting an absence.
And if it IS live, I want to know how the heck she managed logistics.

Erm...
Well, I just hope she doesn't call out any of those weekend shows. Ticketmaster appears down for me at the moment, can't check any dates.

The problem with that is replica of the set. They need to make it look like she is actually on the show. So she needs to be in the London studio. I don't they would build a replica set just for her in NYC.
Finishes If/Then show at 11pm (EST) on Saturday, catches a flight to London at Midnight/1am, 6 hour flight. Lands in London 11am (GMT). Then 2 hours to get to studio record slot and leave. Factor in travel time so next flight back to NYC is 2pm, six hour flight means back 3pm (EST).
Just isn't possible to do Saturday and Sunday show and get to London!!!

That's not true. They can say "live, via satellite from New York". Why do they need to pretend she's there?

They've never done that before. It's always in the X Factor studio. Mr Cowell always likes the artists in his studio. I think he would settle for a live pre-recording, but it it is live from NYC I would be very surprise. But hey, stranger things have happened!
