Me too. All lighthearted fun. That's the only sucky thing about message boards......no tone of voice or facial expression. Makes thing hard to interpret sometimes, ya know?
I'm pretty sure Adam Garcia is Australian and he actually played Fiyero in the early workshops with Kristin and Idina. Not saying that it's true they'll cast him.
And for the record, producers go against their word more frequently then you know. Examples:
LOTR announced they would have an ALL CANADIAN cast --- > in the end, all but one of the Hobbits are British and there are British acrobats assorted throughout the company.
AVENUE Q was to tour the country ---- > they went against their promise and went to Vegas, and the producers are kicking themselves now.
Okey Dokey. Apparently I'm the only British person around here. Well here's my contribution:
etoile, if you want tickets for Wicked in London I'd say get them from the theatre (www.wickedthemusical.co.uk) rather than popcultureboy who was clearly being sarcastic.
Whilst I wish this rumour were true, I don't believe casting has been announced yet. I certainly know they are currently auditioning for ensemble. And I believe the cast will be announced (as some have already said) in May.
And finally, in response to earlier comments...
"I'm just wondering if the show itself will actually garner the same kind of attention over there as it has here.
Dottie...I'd say it's possible it won't- Chitty didn't do that well here because American kids aren't as attached to the movie, and I don't know that the Wizard of Oz is as well-known in England as it is here. But there's a LOT of hype around Wicked. I could see it going either way."
It's actually HUGE over here already! Not so much Idina, although several of the more enthusiastic musical fans are aware of her. But, as in America, Wicked is the latest obssession. And becoming increasingly so. And The Wizard Of Oz - come on, forgetregret, what do you think we are?! OF COURSE it's a much loved classic here too!
I saw Wicked last year on Broadway with Idina, and subsequently spread the word to all my friends because I really enjoyed it. So I'm excited that it's coming here at all, never mind who the cast is. :)
And if Idina was coming to London, why did they have Shoshana at the launch? There have been rumours circulating the West End Boards for months about who will get it, and numerous West End Actresses are going for auditions - which surely wouldn't be happening if they had already cast someone.
I'm expecting a West-Ender so to speak as Elphie, maybe an american as Glinda, if not another UK actress, and then maybe some "names" as the Wizard and Madame. Which is pretty much what the casting says.
