Go listen to that sampler CD again and see if you find yourself thinking "surprise hit" afterwards.

I have 2 different samplers of the show, (One had an extra song) and while the toerh songs are OK, I agree that I am my mother's son is basically unlistenable. It is an odd concept too. We'll see. i plan to get a TDF ticket and check it out.
VB: Mr. Wonka, my name is Violet Beauregard...
WW: I don't care.

I'll be there! This had better be awful or surprisingly brilliant. I will be very upset if all this anticipation leads up to mediocrity!

Those who can't be there physically will be watching from above...LEMONS!
PEACE.

Could this actually be worse than Good Vibrations? At least the latter had Beach Boys songs going for it. Oh, my.

haha.. Good Vibrations is gonna look like a masterpiece

Oh, I'm praying this makes Good Vibrations look like West Side Story.

I dont event think this is going to be "good" bad...just very bad. The sampler has the worst songs, sung by terrible singers. I just do not see how people invested money in this...
I will sit this one out...of course, I said that about Carrie 18 years ago...and that was a mistake.

This kind of stuff is perfect for bringing out one's inner sadist, isn't it, Margo? I'm pretty sure In My Life will be closed before I make it back to the states, but damn I'll have fun reading the reviews.

Well, the singers on the CD are not the ones cast in the show. So hopefully, things will be better in the actual show.

Why would someone pray to see a piece of trash. Even if you're very skeptical, why should you WANT it to suck? I want everything I see to be fantastic...but that doesn't mean everything lives up. Perhaps I enjoy theater for the wrong reasons. And I'm telling you now, y'all ARE gonna hate the show. You've already made up your mind.

"All I ask of you is one thing: please don't be cynical. I hate cynicism -- it's my least favorite quality and it doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen."

I refer you to Frank Rich's book HOT SEAT and the article entitled ON THE PARTICULAR PLEAURES OF WITNESSING A FLOP (or something to that effect). It makes the case quite nicely for why some of us still kick ourselves for missing CARRIE.

I don't have the sampler but...
I actually liked the video on Broadway.com. Maybe I'm just very naive and uncritical. But I kind of liked the one song they showed on the video. And I know that now I'm going to get laughed at unmercilessly, but I thought I would share my different opinion. And lets get some reviews in here to show how wrong I was.
