Brilliant. What a great post, Marc.
hello nameless dot chorus dot boy, Jess, Marc's dogwalker, here,
My two cents (and I've seen a few dozen HAIRSPRAYs in my time) is that I loved Marissa and dreaded having to watch someone new play the role, because who could compare, but now I love Carly's performance just as much. Judging by the laughs thet Jordan and Carly get, I don't stand alone in my opinion... I'm sure you know as an insider that Jordan and Carly are hysterically funny, lovely, thoughtful people, and they give their all to that show every night. As an insider I am also sure you know how it feels to read things that others wrote knocking that "all," that effort and passion that I am sure you put into your performances, as well.

Oh Lord, can't wait to see the reaction of a post from my Celebrity Dog Walker!!! that's gonna REALLY help my image of a man of the people!!!
That said, just LOOK at that aDORable photo of Miss Walli Woo. If only her snout could sniff out the bug up you know who's butt!!
Woo looks like she's just returned from a trip to Oribe's chair in CDW's icon. Fancy.

Watch starlight do backhandsprings and cartwheels and howl at the moon for joy! How often these days do you see ANYONE stand up for their beliefs, or for friends, associates, clients, or even sometimes for themselves, for so many reasons. This chorus boys' post could have been overlooked or taken with a grain of salt but "untruths" are different than opinions, and usually hurt more than a few, which I belive his post did. Thank you Mr. S for coming to the rescue, somehow I am picturing you with a cape on right now, with Diet DP in hand! You and Scott ROCK! I will be seeing "Hairspray" again in NYC in April!
I'm just glad we get some info on the production side of a real live Broadway show and not just anonymous rumors and gossip. I think it's important for people to know the reality of trying to keep a show open. It's one thing for fans to have preferences about a show, but it's another to make demands. And if there is a serious cast/management issue, that is for the producers and the unions to sort out with the parties involved. Like Marc said, I'm sure there is more than one side to the story. It's not as if all actors are so easy to work with.
Someday when the book is written, I'd love to know what the Hairspray tour's weekly nut is. I can only imagine. Can anyone tell me how many trucks they currently take?

Mark thanks for a wonderful response to a dusgruntled chorus boy. His post made me sick and I wouldn't respond to it. You said it all!!
look here Missy, learn how to spell my name or I'll start a new thread about YOU!!!
Wow! Harshness all around! I'll add to it - Lil' Missy, if you're so sick then take a purge!
While I'm not the biggest fan of this show, this chorusboy's post was really harsh. I never believe it when someone claims to be in the "know". Unless, of course, they are the composer or someone who's willing to sign his/her name.
Can't wait to see if this chorusboy turns up in this thread!! Still it cracks me that people get "sick" when someone attacks Hairspray, yet how many (myself included) have had fun bad-mouthing other shows? One things true. Opinions are like assholes. We all them them, but yours stinks!
LOGE, I LOVE POPULAR AND MARY CHERRY!!! YOU ARE THE WINNER!
I secretly long to be Mary Cherry.
Hey Marc, I think your next project should be PINK FLAMINGOS: THE MUSICAL!
"My name is Dawn Davenport. I'm a thief and a sh*t-kicker!" - from Pink Flamingos
Think what you could do with that material Marc!
I posted part of this in the other Hairspray thread:
With regards to Carly Jibson, in the times that I have seen her I have absolutely loved her performances. I liked her characterization and her singing voice. As much as I liked Marissa, I wish Carly was on the recording. Granted she's been out some of the times I have seen the show, but her understudy was very good as well. I liked Jordan as Amber, too. All the Ambers have been different, but they were all very good. I will say that my favorite Penny has been Jenn Gambatese.

I'm really looking forward to finally seeing it as Ive heard really good things about it from everyone I know who's seen it. We have aisle seats in center orch..I guess we'll see the dancing in the aisles up close n person...lol
Thanks Marc for setting the record straight! Looking forward to finally seeing your show!

I know you said you didn't want to be praised, Marc, but I can't resist. You rule!
Hairspray is like, good and all like, but it's no Irma la Duce.
:)
Bravo!! All I can say is that when we took our kids to NYC this past January, "Hairspray" was the first show we took them to. For our 14 and 12 yr old girls it was their first Broadway show. I had seen it in August 2004 and I was quite surprised to enjoy it more the second time. I liked Carly better than the first 'Tracy" and Bruce was awesome. I had seen Michael McKeon(?) in August because I am a big fan of his and must say Bruce was more "REAL" My kids LOVED it!! It was so much fun and with a great morality lesson to boot. My 18 yr old son even apologized for bitching about seeing this. He wanted to see "ANYTHING ELSE" because he thought it would be rotten! Thank You for your input!! We look forward to the tour arriving in DC this summer.
Well Marc, you do rock. :) I for one love Hairspray. I still listen to the cast recording a lot.

Oh, that crazy Chorine. Let's get this back to the subject. What's up with the Vegas show, Marc? Any idea what is going to be cut to make this show 90 minutes?
I heard they're cutting all the songs in order to fit the time.
