I'd also point out, that many posters on that thread have seen an earlier screening (the first one), and if you feel the need to get some info about what they thought about the film, you can PM them. Of course, you would need an account. I would do it, but I don't think I would discuss any other films rather than Into the Woods on there.
I have a friend who saw the earlier screening of INTO THE WOODS tonight. He didn't tell me much but here is what I got: SPOILERS! -
Act 1 and act 2 feel like completely different films. - Johnny Depp is the highlight of the film. - Streep was too over the top and talk-singed most of the score. - Anna Kendrick better start picking out her Oscar gown. - Emily was utterly boring, but had a nice voice. - Rapunzel didn't die, she just goes crazy and wanders off. - The deleted Witch song was shown and it's "meh". Ruins the pacing. - Can't understand anything Jack is saying. - The Stepsisters are hilarious. - "Agony" isn't funny at all. No one in the audience laughed. - Traces of "No More" were in the film. - The ending is significantly different than in the musical. - "No one is alone" made him cry. - The CGI is overkill. - Someone from the original cast makes an appearance but he didn't say who
WARNING its sort of discouraging...and it seems like the opposite of every review we've heard on this film.
How was the Wolf done? Similar to the original. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAVVVVVBWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAVVVBWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHABWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I was at the screening tonight and that "review" is laughable. I'm not going in-depth about this, but take that all with a grain of salt, it is nearly ALL inaccurate.
There was no deleted Witch song, no original cast member, audience responded highly to Agony, the ending is NOT significantly different than the musical (though it's not the same, to be fair, and one of my issues) Depp was not the highlight at all, and I seriously doubt Kendrick getting any Oscar nomination for this movie.
I will say that I was incredibly pleased with what I saw. We were told it's not completely done and the post-film survey leads me to believe they are very much still tweaking the film, particularly the ending. It's not perfect, but it's very enjoyable and quite faithful.

Was at the screening tonight. The film is breathtakingly good. Hands down the best movie version of a musical since "Chicago." It's extremely faithful to the show but full of movie magic as well. This is going to be a huge critical and commercial hit.
^Care to answer the questons I asked in an earlier post? I'm glad you really, really liked it. It may be the movie that gives Rob Marshall his credibility back.
I was particularly impressed with Blunt and Corden, thought they displayed lovely chemistry and brought a different dynamic to the pair. Both are very good, particularly Blunt. Streep is strong here, much fuller singing than we've heard from her- Last Midnight was really something to behold. Depp is perfectly unoffensive as The Wolf, though he's really just a glorified cameo.
