There's a Chicago production opening next month with some pretty credible actors in it, regionally-speaking.
Comments, opinions; anyone?
It was one of my favorite shows of the 2016-2017 season and was totally robbed at the Tonys, in my opinion. Fantastic piece, really well-written. The lead role of Jordan is super meaty (Gideon Glick did it great justice), though in the wrong hands, it could come off as grating and horrible. I don't know who's in the Chicago production, but it's a wonderful play, so I say go for it.

Ditto to all of this.

I am going to go see it! Mainly because the star, Alex Weisman, is one of my favorite Chicago actors and he will be making his Broadway debut in Harry Potter next year!

Markypoo: don't know if you need more opinions but I loved this play. Saw it several times Off Broadway and on Broadway. Deserved longer run on Broadway and as several have said here, Gideon Glick was robbed of a Tony nomination. If you see this production, please report back. Curious as to how another cast plays!
I hated this play. While the actors poured their heart and soul into the production friends and I found it dreadful. Lots of whining and "but it's about me" storytelling. I felt he wrote in an older character to hopefully get the Matinee crowd but unfortunately it wasn't enough. I had really wanted to like the production to but ended up hating it instead.

I'll join most everyone else on this thread who LOVED ''Significant Other.'' If it were up to me, Joshua Harmon would've won Best Play, and frankly, I thought it was better than the 4 shows that WERE nominated. Just as I felt the incredible Gideon Glick should've won Best Actor and Sas Goldberg deserved it for Featured Actress.
When I saw this show, the theater was packed with many twentysomethings, and they were eating it up and relating to it. Alas, most critics and Tony nominators are not twentysomething (or anywhere near it), so I don't think it got the acclaim it deserved.

I thought the play was shallow and superficial throughout most of it- though it was mildly interesting. However, the ending was very powerful and the main character's choices finally caught up with him. I myself could have taken a similar path if I had not met the right guy and settled down. The main character's predicament was very relatable and touching.

Definitely go! I saw this on Broadway last year, and I remember being gobsmacked the morning of the Tony nominations when Gideon Glick's name was not called. It was a crime that he was not even nominated. He should have won Lead Actor in a cakewalk! I enjoyed the play tremendously. As a 40-something, I found the themes in it very relatable. It has a lot of humor but even more pathos. The ending packs a real punch to the gut.

Err, the start of your post and the end of your post need to come to an agreement on things...
I have problems with the play itself, but it is definitely entertaining and, in NYC at least, anchored by really great performances. I have a feeling that this is a work that really needs them to make it work.

I saw it tonight and LOVED IT. Maybe it's because I am a 26 year old gay man, but I thoroughly enjoyed the production. I noticed a lot of older people were bored and disinterested, but the people around my age were, for lack of a better term, "engaged" with the story. I am very happy I saw it and will be letting my friends know to go see it.
