Thanks @Tazber & @RainbowHigh.
I have always been fascinated with the idea that the Husband Goes crazy at the end. It is left Open Ended and I love that.

the trendy thing would be a black n2n, or even asian
There was a rather accomplished local production last year here in Baltimore that featured an African-American cast (except for the actor playing Drs. Fine and Madden, who was white). It's definitely one of those shows where race doesn't change much, since it's not a theme of the piece.
Anyhow, as others have said, it's way too early for a Broadway revival, but in addition to the Baltimore production, I've seen two other solid regional productions. It's certainly getting a lot of exposure.

I thought NEXT TO NORMAL was terrific, but I wouldn't want to see another production in NYC for 15-20 years. I'm glad David Stone is investing time and money in Kitt and Yorkey's NEW show, rather than a money-grubbing revival of an earlier hit. (I'm talkin' to YOU Cameron Mackintosh!)

Mike Barrett: N2N had a number of workshops before it played off b'way at 2nd Stage for about 6 weeks in 2008. The show did really well with awards/nominations.
Then it was re-worked and opened at DC's Arena Theater in late 2008/early 2009. It then came to b'way that spring. It never returned off bway.
