I'm just repeating what I said on the deleted thread.
I am so sad! HAIRSPRAY is my all-time favorite musical. Without it, I may have never really gotten into musical theatre. My dream was to play Seaweed J. Stubbs on Broadway (hence my screen name.) I guess I'll just have to wait until the revival!
At least now it will have success in regional, local, and high school theatres. Thank you HAIRSPRAY, for all the joy you have brought to my life!

Kind of surprised actually, but the grosses haven't been the best over the past month. Really fun show though.

First Rent, my favorite show, closes. Now Hairspray, my next favorite show?! All in the matter of months. This sucks.

Well, "likely to close" and "closing" aren't the same thing. If it's true though, I did not see this one coming at all.
I know you.

I'm equally upset over the fact that John Pinette probably won't be coming back as was previously rumored.

I actually think that John was signed on to return, on his Myspace his final tour date is Oct. 24.

The one good thing about the recent rash of closing notices is that there are already new productions waiting in the wings to fill the theatres. Theatre is still alive and well despite the economy!

Maybe we will finally get to see the long rumour Australian production happen!
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.

This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.

So--HAIR? Neil Simon? Safe to say...?
Unless I'm forgetting some other pre-Broadway show that hasn't gotten canceled yet...
ETA: Oh, and I don't particularly like that idea by the way. HAIR should be somewhere smaller. But is there another theater freeing up that I'm not thinking of? This is pretty much the time frame HAIR wanted, I believe.

This is NOT happening. I am so disappointed! I'm seeing it every possible weekend until the closing.

I just saw this a couple of weeks ago. While I did enjoy it, it is not my favorite show I have ever seen. But, it will be sad if it does close.
