I am in complete shock.
I never expecter Hairspray to run for 20 years or anything, but I definitely thought it would make it longer than this.
I'm sad.

theyre going to perform the 6:30 show."?
I checked ticketmaster and they do have two shows on
1/18. Which one should I go to? The 6:30 one?"
Ole Chum was being sarcastic and comical to the other poster who wanted to know which of the two was the final performance.
The point being: in what universe would the matinee be the final performance if there is an evening show following it? If it's the FINAL performance, there can't be any others after that. So, yes, go with the LATER one.

While sad news indeed, this should not be a complete surprise to anyone. before the movie came out, the show would probably have closed last year, even with all the stunt casting.
great to hear Harvey is returning to close out the show. I wonder if they'd try and get Nikki to come in for a couple of months?

I would refrain from purchasing any tickets to the 'as of today' closing date. Its going to change.

Don't worry, I really don't have any particular favorite anymore, all of my favorite shows are closing or have closed in the past few years.
...though I'm thinking of re-evaluating myself and making Wicked my favorite

I called my mom this morning to tell her and the first words that came out of her mouth were "We'll have to get tickets." I am really just glad that I'll see the show one last time on Broadway
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofuPosted: 10/3/08 at 7:51pm
