The Doc attends Billie Joe Armstrong in American Idiot last night.
Bille Joe Armstrong in American Idiot
I lost the lotto last night and saw BBAJ instead, but I'm going tonight on a mission. Reading these reviews, I'm contemplating just buying a full price ticket.
Is anyone playing lotto tonight for one ticket, who wants to join me and put our names in together for 2? PM me if interested.
I am so stoked for tonight. For anyone who had TDF tickets for last night, where were you seated?
I continue to have mixed feelings about the show, but whatever. This looks f-ing awesome!
I hope there is video of this somewhere down the road.

I just found vids of Billie performing all of St. Jimmy's numbers last night. I'm not going to post them here, but PM me if you'd like to see. The person recording must've been in the balcony, because Billie just looks like a little white dot, so I'd have to see him live in the role in order to form an actual opinion on the performance, but vocally, Tony Vincent has him beat. Tony Vincent seems way scarier, but it is really cool to see Billie in the role. I think at some point before it closes they should fit all three Green Day members into the show. My ideas would be Billie back in the role of St. Jimmy, Mike Dirnt as the "Holiday" soloist (Theo Stockman's part), and Tre' Cool as the "Rock 'N Roll Boyfriend" at the end.

dying to see this. I would pay full price, even though I'm broke. Anyone know what the chances will be tomorrow?? either booth or lottery? I don't know if I can get out of work early, but I will be out in time to get there by 7:45 - would love to know that there will be tickets available.
LOVE BILLY JOE!!!
My initial reation was "Who"
Now that I know, considering what I saw on the Tony Awards, my reaction is "Who cares?"
It's too late in the thread to act all special, Marc.
Just came back from the show tonight. Billie was fantastic as St. Jimmy. JGJ sounded nasally. Maybe he is getting sick. Stark, Michael, Christina, Rebecca, and Mary were also amazing.

If anyone wants to see them without wasting your time sending a pm just search Billie Joe in American Idiot on broadway on youtube and then change sort by to date added.

So, if you don't care, why bother even reading the thread let alone commenting on it.
I've heard he was amazing....but that has come from people already in love with AI as well as Green Day.
IF I was in the city, I might have tried to go, but it has no "oh-my-gosh" appeal.
He was amazing. I forgot to mention in an earlier post, I prefer Josh Henry as Favorite Son. Wallace Smith was not very clear sounding.
The energy of the show last night was out of this world. Say what you want about the show itself, but it would be plain wrong to question the immense talent of that cast. I have yet to see a performance of the show where everyone on stage is giving less than 110%. But last night was like another show entirely. For the brief time Billie Joe was actually onstage, he was a force to be reckoned with. Seeing a rock star of his caliber of performance on that stage, singing the songs that he wrote, was a once in a lifetime thrill that I'm glad I witnessed.
If you get a chance to go to the St. James before this Sunday, do it. The energy in that theatre is palpable.
ColorTheHours - you took the words right out of my mouth. I was there last night as well, and could barely believe I was actually seeing it. Vocally I thought he sounded great (he's sounded the same since Green Day started - oh, and um, still looks 19!), but I was really impressed with how invested he seemed in the character and the new things he brought to it. He found a lot more humor, while still being menacing when he needed to be.
Being a Green Day fan for 10+ years, this was a really special experience for me. I feel really lucky to have been there.
GO SEE IT.
I had a blast last night. I'm so glad I went.
I saw the show yesterday and I agree with the previous posters. The energy was through the roof. I am so glad I was able to see Billie Joe's performance. It was one of the most fun theatre experiences I ever had.

I went on Friday. It was sold out and standing room only, which I find absolutely amazing for the size of the St. James.
I've see Tony and Andrew before. Billie brought a whole different perspective of St. Jimmy. Unlike Tony and Andrew, Billie was about the same height of John Gallagher, Jr. and so, he acted more of the "evil" side of Johnny instead of just a separate entity that Tony (and to a point, Andrew). I'm very glad that I was able to go and experience it.
I'm sad I missed it, but I might be going this week. Does anyone know the alternation schedule for Andrew C and Josh K?

I've heard from a lot of people that Andrew has Tuesday-Thursday (maybe Friday?) and then Josh Kobak will be on this weekend.
