Christian Lewis has been instrumental in trying to destroy JLP. Yes the show had issues to address, but this could have been done through nucanced conversations and allowing the show to accept mistakes were made and then move forward. But by trying to turn the show into some toxic entity - to try and turn everyone against Lauren Patten - it only helped in speeding up its demise now. So forgive me for a massive eye roll at his tweet regarding this ….

JLP wasn’t a fave musical of mine, but I’m really sad to see it close for all the cast and crew who will be unemployed as a result, and for everyone who won’t get a chance to give the show a proper goodbye. I’m worried that this is not the beginning …..

i do find the producers' statement a little nauseating though. obviously, the Covid situation is not ideal, but it isnt ideal for various other shows too. Moulin Rouge, Hamilton, TKAM are not closing because they are selling. Their statement makes it seem like they are closing their doors to protect their cast (implying other producers arent...) when if they were making money, they wouldnt even think about doing this."

I wonder if Equity will release their findings from the investigation into the treatment of Nora Schell.

"Leapoldstat" is a Tom Stoppard drama with no star power and a cast of 500. Having that open during a pandemic in a climate where even the hottest ticket in town is still a show you can get tickets to, would be an insanely stupid idea.
