Posted: 10/4/11 at 12:24pmDeals were recently signed for a Nederlander tour, probably 6 months followed by a Broadway return and they are on the hunt for 'stars'. Has anyone heard who?

Posted: 10/4/11 at 12:44pmI hope they use the Tony nominated Broadway book. Or write a new one. The licensed script is terrible.

Posted: 10/4/11 at 1:01pmAny chance we might get Idina and Kristin, or Alice and Emily? Ooh, better yet, Patti and Glenn!

Posted: 10/4/11 at 1:03pmThey'll probably use "Bring on the Men." Initially it was often repeated that Linda Eder didn't want the song in the show, but Linda said in a BWW interview recently that it was the director that wanted a different song and that she regretted not playing the "diva card" and insisting that the song stay in the show.

Anyone think Hugh Jackman would be PERFECT in the title roles????
I hope they use the FCLO version of the show...much better than the original, more like the Warlow concept version.

Maybe Kelli O'Hara as Emma?
I know she was in the original cast. Oh wait, didn't she say she didn't like working on a Wildhorn show?

I think Laura Osnes, Erin Davie or Lauren Molina would be excellent as Emma Carew.
I like Laura Benanti for Lucy.

Posted: 10/4/11 at 2:40pmI like Good'N'Evil more than Bring On the Men but... either way, I'm excited to see loud murmurs of J&H's return. I always get a little wistful pang when I read or hear how well it's been running overseas...

This sounds like a terrible idea. Is the fan base really that large? The original ran for almost three years and still didn't recoup--why try again now?
Laura Benanti as Lucy? Belting has never been her strong suit--it makes her sound nasal and flat.

To kill outside St. Paul's requires a lot of balls.
Yeah. Skipping this one.

Posted: 10/4/11 at 8:06pmI love Jekyll and Hyde! It's one of the few shows that I've onstage and I love it to this day. As for who should be cast in this potential B'way revival? I have no idea. Perhaps Kate Shindle as Lucy? She was in the role in the production I saw, so I suppose that makes me biased.

You mean the Broadway production? I agree it was awful, but only because it was nothing like the original. The Alley production and the first pre-Broadway tour were fantastic. If they return to the staging and score of that first tour, the show could be a hit (not only were the book and score stronger, the sets were dazzling and the show had a MUCH darker and creepy edge). It was those productions that created the massive positive buzz that propelled the show to Broadway. Unfortunately, the new director decided to try and fix what wasn't broken and it was a ridiculous mess. The stunt casting then turned it into the joke of Broadway.

Posted: 10/4/11 at 8:39pmI say they get the director from the Korean production that has been running. The clips i've seen of that production are mind blowing.

They already have a director. This will only happen if they get a "star" for Jekyll/Hyde supposedly. And I'm sure they have their eyes on Hugh Jackman who would be perfect.
I'm sure Kate's (would be a full circle for her with her B'way debut as an understudy in the original) a strong possibility for Lucy (Linda was 35 when it hit Broadway, Coleen Sexton (who was the filmed Lucy) was 20) , but she's done it a lot (check out the Resurrection Tour Cast Recording with Brandi Burkhardt and Rob Evan).
Also, I think it's safe to say that after Kelli O'Hara's completely unnecessary nudity scene in DRACULA she'll be staying away from any future Frank Wildhorn shows.
AC126748: Surprisingly, the fan base is still large for this show and is still performed around the country (and the world) consistently. The show ran for nearly FOUR years, and made money with it's Broadway touring production, international productions and 3 concept recordings. Not to mention it played a relatively small house (where Bonnie & Clyde is also heading), but 4 years isn't so bad with 3 national tours as well!
As with this show, no two versions have ever been the same (besides obvious regional/licensed productions): It will be "re-written" and tweaked at the hands of the director, who has a catalog of over 80 songs already to work with, and perhaps the quickest composer to pop out a catchy tune need-be.

Wildhorn directed Dracula?

Posted: 10/4/11 at 9:34pmNo, and there's another reason regarding DRACULA that doesn't need to be brought up for the 100th time (aka released this summer).

Posted: 10/4/11 at 9:52pmI enjoyed Robert Cuccioli's performance in this show. I was not familiar with him prior to seeing him in J&H. Linda Eder was the primary reason I wanted to see it. As luck would have it, her understudy went on for her for that performance, but she was excellent. I enjoyed seeing this show.

I AGREE! I loved the Pre-Broadway tour, but he has such a tendency to over re-write his **** and it just murders some beautiful thing.
