The footage I've seen of Charli starting off the show seems like she is full of energy and the cast as well..does it seem like they start off high energy and then it gets quiet? What exactly happens?"
I had a feeling Charli does the 8-measure freestyle dance that concludes the "pre-show" bit. Weber's choreo fits her like a glove!

My comments were mostly about the leads. Maybe they were having an off night, but they appeared to be struggling with the vocals at times, during the dance numbers it was almost like they were thinking of the next steps ahead and it showed. I was disappointed because I loved the show the first time I saw it. Maybe they just need a bit more time to get settled in their roles.

I was there yesterday, and felt very differently than the above poster. The ensemble brought a renewed fire that had been missing recently. There are only two leads who are new to the show, Alison Luff and Liam Pearce. Alison had big shoes to fill, and while she didnt command as many laughs as Betsy, she brings a lot of heart to the role and I think there’s something to be said for that. And there’s finally a big rock star voice in Liam’s Romeo.
I think I clocked a few line and blocking changes too, but can’t be sure.
And yes, Charli does the opening dance feature, the entirety of which is posted on the &J Instagram, which seems like an odd choice if they want people to pay to see her do it.

Everyone who's saying oh the new cast isn't good or up to the OG cast does need to realize they need time to settle in. For a lot of them it's their Broadway debut and they need to adjust.

With that said, I’ve seen my fair share of first previews as well as replacement cast in the first couple of shows and never seen issues like last night.
This is just my opinion obviously, as someone above had a great time last night.
Haven’t caught the year 3 cast yet (very West End, no?) but big fan of the show, and so disappointed that they’ve cut Anne’s gorgeous wedding-end of show look both on tour and Broadway. It looks like she’s back in her “there’s an excessive amount of string on this thing” look for the end of the show?

AFAIK it's a brand new dress that partially replaces the wedding-end look. I believe something goes on top during the wedding scene, though.
The new ensemble got new tour designs as well and I think they fumbled on the look BADLY, the show looks so much cheaper now.

Oh interesting! Thank you for the insight. I'll miss that turquoise corset but will give this new getup a chance.

@Juliet toronto open casting call
starts Dec.2025
D'Amelio has extended her run to April 6.
As Paulo Szot has departed the Broadway company before he starts working on the London premiere of HERE WE ARE, Joey Fatone debuts as Lance tonight!
Should be a fun evening, who'll be there?
D’Amelio has extended once again, to September 7.
Has anyone caught the tour lately? It's coming through my city next month, and I'm wondering how the cast/production stacks up compared to Broadway.

Just got out of tonight’s show in Providence. It holds up really well, and I thought the lead, Rachel Simone Webb, was better than Lorna, actually. Huge powerful voice and it felt very effortless for her to hit those top notes. The rest of the cast was very good as well, honestly. Not a dud among them. I don’t really remember the wardrobe for the Broadway show well enough to compare that, but they looked good enough. I didn’t really notice any changes. Teal Wicks as Anne had a sharper vibe than Betsy but great voice and funny. I’m not a huge jukebox musical fan but I was happily reminded how clever this one is with its choices.

Does this confirm the rumor of the show closing this summer is false?

I guess? They still need to be grossing a bit more than they have in recent weeks.
