I know there is no real way to make her a lead, but stunt casting an ensemble track, unless they plan on beefing it up for her, seems a bit weird to me.

Yeah, it’s weird at first glance, but & Juliet is a show that values its ensemble just as much as the principals.
I do believe this is stunt casting done right — and it will bridge the gap between the OGs leaving and Fatone hopping on as Lance early in the New Year.
There’s no way Charli is making more than equity minimum for an ensemble track. She’s basically doing this for fun than anything else.

She's a dancer so I guess the casting makes "sense" to draw in some people. I'm sure they'll be using her name a lot in marketing but won't specify she's in the ensemble and not a leading role. I doubt it will actually boost ticket sales and will just result in mobs of kids at the stagedoor.

Charli D'Amelio has 207 million followers on social media. I have no clue if fans will go home happy from the experience, but I'd be shocked if casting her in the ensemble doesn't help ticket sales.
“The show will also welcome several new ensemble members (referred to as ‘The Players’) this fall, including Gabe Amato as ‘Gregory,’ Reese Britts as ‘Sly,’ Nicholas Cooper as ‘Lenox,’ Charli D’Amelio as ‘Charmian,’ Jhailyn Paige Farcon as ‘Imogen,’ Elsa Keefe as ‘Eleanor/Benvolio,’ Alejandro MullerDahlberg as ‘Crosse,’ Cassie Silva as ‘Lucy,’ Darien “Daah” Van Rensalier as ‘Augustine’ and Romy Vuksan as ‘Viola.’ Vuksan, who joins the company directly from the Australian cast of & Juliet, will begin performances on October 8. All other year-three Players begin performances on Tuesday, October 29.”
Alison Luff will be perfect as Anne! And how exciting her and her husband will be performing on broadway at the same time!

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Why would Kelly Clarkson do a Broadway show? She's got a good gig that pays more doing her talk show, that let's her perform whatever songs she feels like. She might also still do the occasional Las Vegas residency, which also pays better.
Clarkson ain't being a replacement in a Broadway show that's been running for 2+ years. She's got her talk show that's doing very well. I don't see her doing Broadway as long as she has her talk show. If and when she does, it'll be something new.

Saw the show last night for a second time and was incredibly disappointed with it. Drew Gehling was out unfortunately. The energy was just overall lacking and the band was overpowering the singers. It was just bad.
It was lacking energy and it was only the second day of performances for 13 company members. YIKES

The footage I've seen of Charli starting off the show seems like she is full of energy and the cast as well..does it seem like they start off high energy and then it gets quiet? What exactly happens?
