re: Jack Black rejects Young Frankenstein Offer

I think Brooks is desperate to get a "name" in this show. It'll be interesting if he doesn't get a "name" if the show will close soon. Good choice by Black to not take the part, I don't think he could pull it off.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

WOW!

Now THAT would have been something to see!

He would have been perfect in either role, I'm sure!

Maybe "ROCK OF AGES" can make him a better offer! HAHA!

Good for Black. Show is going downhill, isn't it?

My grandparents saw the show this past Wednesday afternoon and said the orchestra was 3/4 full...not great.

Brooks will probably get a name for it though...I doubt he'll give up without a fight.

If Megan Mullally couldn't get people in the seats, not many willing stars are going to be able to.

This show is so off everyone's radar now.

This aside, Jack Black needs a starring vehicle for him to get to Broadway. I would LOVE to see him hit up Broadway soon. He is brilliant, and perfect for the stage.

Jack Black? That talentless schlub from School of Rock? Good lord, I can't imagine him giving up his Dominos delivery job for anything as chancy as a Broadway Show.

Oh I knew he was talentless long before that. Was he the one with the fake rock band, too?

He played thta guy fairly well in High Fidelity and then reprised it a dozen times in various vehicles. I didn't make it through all of School of Rock, I should admit.

Desperate? Yeah, but I would've loved to see Jack Black in Young Frankenstein. Moreso as Igor than Dr. Frankenstein.

And Akiva, I sooooo agree with you, I would have been ecstatic to see him as Freddy in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Megan was big enough a name to get my butt into that theatre :)
