Are they holding tickets for the general public that City Center members will not have access to, because that's my biggest fear. Should I get a City Center membership?
Ashford is great but I was hoping for some out-of-the-box casting or some major star casting in the style of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS.
I was really hoping for Jane Krakowski. Annaleigh will be fine though.
I probably said this earlier on the thread or at another point or both, but Krakowski has repeatedly said this is her dream role and for some reason I thought she would get to finally play it. I can't think of anyone I'd rather see in the role so yeah Ashford is a letdown but I know people on the board love her and she's a fine choice.
Yeah, I understand that feeling completely. Obviously I'm thrilled with this casting, but I get what you mean. I'm just happy that Annaleigh will finally get to do something that isn't just funny in New York, finally. I know it's not super realistic, but I'm really hoping for a cast recording, or maybe even a transfer. Of course it's the Gala performance which makes both of those things just that much more unlikely, but a boy can hope, I suppose.

You mean like...Jake Gyllenhaal???
Could someone refresh us on the prices/seating levels?
I paid $75 for front/side balcony.

Not happening.
I wish it had been Jane, that would have been phenomenal. Annaleigh is good too.
I hope Ashford doesn't go for too many laughs. I would love to see a more tender and restrained performance from her.

If you had any sort of reading comprehension skills, you would understand that I was referring to the casting of Ashford specifically. Gyllenhaal was announced along with the event much like Ellen Greene was announced along with *Little Shop of Horrors* and then Gyllenhaal was announced as her co-star. Therefore, I was hoping that when a co-star for Gyllenhaal was announced that it would be someone that would cause as much excitement as when Gyllenhaal himself was announced to join Greene -- a Jane Krakowski, a newly-minted Tony winner Cynthia Erivo, a top-of-her-career Laura Benanti, etc. But I guess you were too busy trying to give snark to worry yourself with such things as reading closely or understanding meaning.
So happy it was not Jane. The choice is perfect.
Did I miss something? I thought these were meant to go on sale to the general public today at noon.

They did! I just bought my ticket. People have been queued up on the City Center website for the past hour.

Will Ashford still be pregnant at this point? I seem to recall reading somewhere that she is

No, she's due in early September.

Yes, what a tremendous source of worry! Why, you're trembling in your boots!
These snowflakes.... really.
Oh my god I'm being stalked! Call the FBI!
Anyway, does anyone know any rich old men who want to front the money for this to get a cast recording?

Aaaa this is crazy! I'm so angry at myself for missing this.
Nice to see a bit of diversity in the casting.
Well that escalated quickly. If I'd known this would be the cast when performance-only tix went on sale, I would've made sure to get a pair! Otherwise there were just too many variables...le sigh.
