Why did this just make me burst out laughing?

I don't understand the love for James Franco. How does he keep getting roles?

Well, you know, if he treats this like other commitments (i.e. attending the creative writing program at University of Houston) it is sure not to happen. In the meantime, I'll sit back and enjoy the triumph of acting delivered by Gary Sienese and John Malkovich in the 1992 film version.

George? Really?
I mean he doesn't match Lennie physically, but I think he could probably nail the characterization. Pretty effortlessly in fact.

I'd tell him not to quit his day job, but it's hard to keep track of what that is.

Is being the King of Asshatery a job title? If so, I think that would sum his up.

Didn't realize he was so disliked. Is he the male Anne Hathaway?

I didn't care for the Sinise/Malkovich version. My favorite filmed version starred two of the biggest psycho douchebag idiots in the business: Robert Blake and Randy Quaid.

I love Anne Hathaway. People hate her because it's en vogue to do so. It's more fun to be bitter and love them when they're the underdog and hate them when they're the front runner.
As for James Franco - he's just a no talent bum who has made everything he was in weaker simply by him touching it.

Right? I mean...I don't really have strong feelings about the man, but he was really pretty terrific in MILK.

I've always found him to be a pretty limited actor. That bothers me more than his annoying personality.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

If by terrific you mean tolerable then I guess.

I thought he was very good in the Gucci pour Homme ads. That's just me though.

I typically enjoy James Franco in his movies. He isn't anything great or special, but far from a terrible actor. His Oscar hosting stint makes me question what kind of stage presence he will have.

He'll probably never be as good as he was in 127 HOURS. Ever. He's a very limited actor, as AC said, but he delivered a pretty great turn in that (wonderful) movie.
Judging by the OZ reviews that are beginning to pour in, he is one of the main detriments of the film, as critics seem to begin to realize his limits as well. I'm sure I'll see this production, but his casting is not exciting in the least to me. I hope he proves me wrong.

Not a big Franco fan, but glad to hear some love for 127 Hours. The stage is a long way I know but he did himself proud in that.

Last night's roast got me thinking about this. Has it still happening? Has anyone heard anything about it?

Every time I hear Of Mice and Men I think of James Roday's Lennie impression from Psych.

I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. Isn't Franco supposed to be playing the man who drowned his wife and three kids in a suitcase? I forget the name of the film.

Oh god... Where's Hugh Jackman where you need him.
Seriously though, Franco screams miscast. Why can't they find someone with a better range of acting.
