Jane Lynch sings Little Girls

I had no interest in ever seeing this production of ANNIE again. But I'll go for Jane Lynch.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Okay, I'm gonna hijack this thread by suggesting that Jane, not Babs, do the movie of Gypsy! Of course the studio would have to pop for an auto-tune machine, but even so...

Thanks for posting.

What the heck? If she can sing this well, why doesn't she sing more? I'd rather hear her than Jayma Mays.

^I promise she won't sound that good 8 times a week. Or even once a week...

Jane Lynch sings Little Girls

Oh, you promise? I'll take your word for it.

Well, we'll just have to wait and see now won't we.

Well, I meant sing on Glee.

Wont be that smooth or strong on Broadway I can guarantee, but she will finesse it.

The auto-tuning is way over the top. Somewhere in all that technology, I think she has a decent voice.

She sounded pretty good on SNL. Much worse singers have played Hannigan. It's a comedic acting part.

Kate Flannery can sing too?? My mind is being blown today.

She won't have autotune in the theatre.

Autotune can be used during a live performance. It happens.

Lowered keys don't bother me at all.

Sounding like the Tin Man whenever you sing a "perfect" note does.

She has me sold. I can't wait to see her take on the role.

best12, I wasn't complaining about the lowered key. I meant that if they're NOT going to lower the key for her in the show, it's not going to be as easy for her to do 8 times a week.

I hope she has a more individual sound in the show, so far this is just Carol Burnett...

bjh2114---gotcha. I just don't understand the obsession with keeping the same key (in general). It's like casting someone because they fit the costume or look good in the wig (in some cases, that happens, too) rather than casting someone who is right for the part.

I think the assembly line approach to theatre is pretty sad. I would much rather see the creative team work with the actor they hired to make it the best they can. Not try to make it the best someone who previously played the part can.

It does sound like Lynch can sing. Certainly well enough to play Hannigan. I just don't like the robotic auto-tuned tones in this recording. Way too mechanical.

I really didn't enjoy this production at all, but she may be just what the show needs, to be better. Not good, better.

Jane Lynch sings Little Girls

Considering that when I saw the production on Sunday Katie essentially screamed and screached through Little Girls and Easy Street, I think Jane will be fine. I have a feeling even though Jane Lynch was mist certainly cast as Miss Hannigan because Lynch is almost always typecast as the heartless b****, she is going to try and bring some warmth to Miss Hannigan, to try and play against type.
