Well, it’s definitely an improvement on the Kahn recording. I hope we can finally get our hands on it soon.
Okay, I know we're a cynical bunch by nature, and this thing has been in cryogenic stasis forever, but can we cut them some goddamn slack please? Especially since it looks like it might actually happen this time, however slowly?
There's a lot of activity on Jay Records Facebook about this; I think it really will be here soon.
I can't wait! But I have to.

I'm shocked this is actually getting released.
Wow. It took a pandemic to get Jay to finally release this.
I didn’t even notice their Facebook cover photo is what looks like a black and white photo of a rehearsal for this record with Sondheim himself next to the piano. It seems iconic even though we haven’t really heard much of the outcome! I hope it is worth it, and I hope given the time it has taken there might be a booklet with some rich details about this project!!
Apparently it’s narrated by Arthur Laurents himself!

I just lost all interest.
Apparently there's a competition to decide the cover art of the album, people can send original artworks by the end of August and the winner will be announced in mid September. Hopefully we'll get a release date before the album disappears again until the next pandemic or something.
Can Forbidden Broadway do a song about the making of this recording? Maybe “Me and My Sound” with John Yap as the mayoress.
It's actually happening! It will be released on December 4th

With the worst logo in the history of bad musical theatre cast recording logos.
I designed one for the contest, but didn't realize that they had a specific way they wanted to market or promote the album with the artwork they decided. Either way... here's what I came up with! :)
That’s better than the artwork they chose. Maybe someone can explain what I’m even looking at? It looks like a kitchen glove floating in front of a squiggly line with lips. And is that the Eiffel Tower too?
It's a lady whispering to somebody behind a gloved hand; the Eiffel Tower earring is an indicator that it's likely Nurse Fay in her disguise as Ze Lady from Lourdes.
The official artwork is... tragic, really. I get that it's Faye in disguise, but it doesn't really represent the show to me. And the American flag at the bottom seems grabbed from a different design entirely.
Jacobsnchz14, your design is much more clever, representative of the show, and appealing!
I also unfortunately don't get the appeal of the chosen artwork at all, but whatever - in some ways it adds to the bizareness of the show & the story behind this recording. I can't wait until December 4th!
I had assumed that was a stand-in until the final artwork is chosen. Yeah, lousy. But it's the recording that counts, and I'm looking forward to it.

Your design is infinitely superior to what they went with. Even disregarding the comparison, you have excellent design instincts for a cast album cover.
I'll gladly replace the actual artwork with Jacob's for anyone who doesn't know how to do track tags.
This version on their website works a bit better compositionally...
Jacobsnchz14, here's to hoping someone at Jay see's your rendering. It is really fantastic! It's certainly not too late to change.
