How sad!
It was just yesterday when we saw him on those Broadway: Lost Treasures shows. He will be missed.

Wow. This is very sad! I thought he was doing so well. How upsetting. This is one of the first performers that has passed away that I actually am aware of his work.

It is the rare talent that gets to make his mark so indelibly in two media. If he had only been known for Law & Order his death would make news, but he had a rich career on Broadway (and off) with the Fantasticks, Threepenny Opera, Carnival, Promises, Promises, 6 rms riv vw, Chicago, 42nd Street. A wonderful talent who will be missed.

This is so sad. He will always be remembered and live on through his contributions to theater, television and movies. He will be missed.
So sad.
What a loss to the Broadway community.

My heart goes out to his family and friends. He will be missed. But what a contribution to Broadway.
To me, he was THE Billy Flynn, opposite the amazing Gwen Verdon. I was so hoping he would return to Broadway someday. Ah well...
Rest in Peace, Mr. Orbach.

"May flights of angels ing him to his rest." (Shalespeare)
A true Broadway legend. The clip of his "Lullaby..." gives me absolute chills. He was practically Broadway talent epitomized. RIP

He will be truly missed. It was just yesterday I was watching him in 'Broadway's Lost Treasures.' He never ceased to amaze me. Thanks for the memories.
No one leaves for good.
we will indeed REMEMBER him fondly.
My mom told me this morning on a bus ride into the city and i started crying. He will be missed.
He was a wonderful man who died too soon. His talent will always be remembered.
There should be more people like him.
The New York Times website has posted an audio link with the beginning of Try to Remember.

Incredible to think that so many of his fans had no idea he could even sing.

I heard about this at work this morning.. it put me and one of my coworkers (who loved him on L&O as well as onstage, which surprised me because I didn't think she knew he had been on Broadway) in a funk for the rest of the day. He was wonderful and he will be very missed.
When I recently heard about Jerry Orbach being diagnosed with prostate cancer, I just assumed he was just starting his treatment. I have been heartbroken all day. He will so very missed. RIP and my heartfelt condolenses to his family.
This is SO sad. Jerry Orbach was such an amazing talent- I was so upset to hear about this!
RIP Jerry!
I turned on TNT to watch Law and Order repeats and was shocked to find a tribute to Mr. Orbach. What a loss for the entertainment community. My sympathies to his family and friends.
Wow. Thats craziness, to hear that such an amazing man and talent has passed away. God Bless him and his family, and I know that I for one will be playing "Try to Remember," and "Lullaby of Broadway" tonight in honor of him.
Promises, Promises opened when I was a senior in high school, and I saw its tryout (Washington) three times. I was obsessed. Jerry was the first young musical theater performance I remembering being entirely enthralled with. He was goofy, funny, charming, and an effortless triple-threat. When he fell for with Jill O'Hara in the show, the audience fell in love with his sense of boyish infatuation. He was uniquely able to generate empathy, and to play sentimental scenes without the least whiff of sentiment. I'd hoped we'd see him in another broadway show, post LAW. He was a real theater treasure, and alas, there aren't many of the old school like Orbach left.

I guess he asked out of Law & Order as he knew as alledgedly he has been battling the cancer fo 10 years. Men need to get PSA tests regularly
