Yes. I just think it means he was in the original. Plus they're talking about TV so the writer's in the shoot and air it mind set, not the go to work everyday live one.
He was my favorite cast member in Spelling Bee, so I'll be sorry if he leaves thea theatrical world, but I wish him good luck nevertheless. Considering the usual success rate of pilots, he'll need it. :/

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

I saw the pilot (courtesy of TiVo). It's not that funny, but it shows promise, I guess. The ending was touching. And Jesse Tyler Ferguson is great. If this show doesn't work out, I'm sure he'll land another soon. And if not, I hope he comes back to Broadway!

Rumnor has it that, if you have Tivo, Time Warner's digital recorder or the like you can record the show as it's being aired at some ungodly time (like 4 AM). So if you're a night owl, you can see it, too.
ETA: A friend watched it the other night and had nothing but raves. Updated On: 9/13/06 at 09:44 AM
I have watched the first two episodes. The show has great potential. It is Friends meets Will & Grace meets Desperate Housewives. There were things I did not like but a lot of things I also really liked and was funny enough touched by.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson is a real stand out in the show. His material lands and his character is very sweet and sympathetic. There is a lot of Leaf in there.
In a world of giving new shows only one episode to take, I hope they give this one at least two or three. The pilot has great cliffhangers including one on Jesse's plotline.
There's a 1 minute video clip from the series here, and a 3-4 minute video interview with Jesse and also one with Heather Goldenhersh (of DOUBT) who's on the show as well.
Jesse is so gosh darn adorable. I just want to give him a big hug.
