This would explain why he's not doing SOME MEN at Second Stage. And please, someone let him know that this is a comedy. He seems to always be so deathly serious, even when he does comedic roles.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

I'm thrilled, I think he's a great choice. And I thought he was hilarious in "Gremlins 2".
I killed the boss, you don't think they're gonna fire me over a thing like that!!!!

Nice casting. I'm guessing that Glover's take on the role will be more melancholy and sad than Martin's which should still work, but make a different sort of impact.

Jasobres, I think that was a casting idea suggested by a board member.

I think Glover is a good choice for the role.

I still believe that once Bob leaves, the show goes downhill. I wish it wasn't so, but the show IS him. Literally.
This is one time though when I wish producers took advice from us BWWers and tried to get Colin Mochrie to do it.

Looks like we may have to see this again as Mrs R is a big John Glover fan

I wish John Glover the best, but I was hoping Patrick Wetzel would be the next Man In Chair. He was great the night I saw him.
I have several names, one is Julian2. I am also The Opps Girl. But cross me, and I become Bitch Dooku!

Wow, ridiculously enough, I've never seen DS.
I definitely should catch Bob, just to have the experience of seeign the original but John Glover is one of my favorite character actors. Not sure if I want to see it enough to see it twice...

If we do see it, I would pull out my old Frankenstein Playbill & have him sign it
His expression would be priceless I would imagine. Mrs R has pictures of her with Cuccioli, Oliver Platt & Hugh Panero & his would be a welcome addition

Good luck. A friend of mine worked with him and said he's an incredibly rude and self-absorbed individual.

I still believe that once Bob leaves, the show goes downhill. I wish it wasn't so, but the show IS him. Literally.
The show will continue to be him, the book that he wrote is still there. I love Mr. Martin, I think he's fantastic (my friend and I even made a fansite for him months ago), but I think that he is replaceable. Sure, it will be sad for many to know that a man so closely tied to the production is no longer in the leading role (on Broadway, at least), but I'm sure some people aren't even aware of the fact that he wrote the book, and they'll enjoy it just fine without him. The role is very well written, and with the correct casting the Man in Chair will continue to charm audiences after Martin is gone.

Very pleased he is the new Man in Chair. I've been a fan of his ever since seeing him stroll across the stage in nothing but a towel in LVC. Too bad Man in Chair wears so many clothes.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?
I withhold judgement, having only seen him on Smallville. Can't wait to see it without Bob Martin, though, if only to see whether the show holds up...
