Hey, I just got home from the "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" your. All the promo said it had Amy Adams as the narrator but we had a girl named Natalie Hill. The way it was stated sounded like it was a replacement thing. Does anyone know if she was just out for the night, this leg or permanetly?
Was it phrased "the role of The Narrator is now being played by," or "at this performance, the role of The Narrator will be played by..."?

Interesting Bio:
MY ADAMS (Narrator) is most known for her appearance on the Fox hit television show "American Idol." She comes recommended for this role by members of Idol's creative team, who contacted the producers to say 'this girl really has pipes and is perfect for the role'. One of the top ten finalists, Amy and nine others hit the U.S., Canada and Singapore, in a 50 city tour. Amy has made appearances on "Entertainment Tonight," "The Tonight Show," and "Access Hollywood" among others. After taking time off to get married, have a baby and work on her first album, Amy is excited to be making her nationwide theatrical debut in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

I dont like the way that sounds.
Amy is having vocal troubles and I'm pretty sure Natalie has replaced her indefinitely. a shame, since Adams was probably the best thing about that tour.
I saw Amy in the role in San Antonio. I thought she showed great potential. Her voice is fine, but her movements seemed a bit stilted and awkward. I kept thinking if she studied dance, it might help her move more naturally.
Yes, in Seattle she was replaced the night I went and another night my friend went. I'm guessing she is out indefinitely. Who knows why, though.

The tour was one big block of Velveeta, I am afraid. Amy Adams does have "great pipes" but very little stage personality. And Patrick Cassidy, though in almost distractingly good shape, had not a lot more.
Isnt there a CD available of this tour? Anyone hear it? I noticed its expensive on the RUG site!
Amy sang the role well, but I agree - she had little presence when I saw her here in Chicago.
Yes- the cd is availible for $22. Since I had an understudy, I didn't see Amy's awkwardness. However I thought the understudy did a fabulous job and wasn't awkward at all. Listening to the cast recording, I felt that I wasn't missing much with Amy gone. I think Patrick could have been better, but the musical in its entirety is extremely fun, although VERY bizarre.

I thought Amy's stage presense was fine - except her direction was horrid. She did little else but walk onstage, sing, and walk back off. I understand that's the point of the narrator, but they still could have done more.
Amy stole the show i thought, but yes...i guess she just walked around the stage and that's it. She is the Narrator after all.
NOOOO! I have tix for the Joe tour in like a month and a half and I was SOOOO looking forward to seeing Amy!
Adams was BY FAR the ONLY thing redeeming about that ridiculously excessive tour. Never before have I seen a show so gregariously self-indulgent and forced. The sets, costumes, choreography, Cassidy's acting (his "Close Every Door" made me laugh out loud), the lighting (Joseph's a disco ball, everybody!0 and the sound which was SO LOUD it gace me a headache. Adams may have had a lack of presence, but everytime she was onstage, I found her a very welcome presence amidst the wildly unorganized chaos, and her voice was quite amazing. Her "Pharaoh's Story" was by FAR the highlight of that show.
Amy was amazing, but i loved the show overall. "Joseph" has a wonderful score.
I cannot wait to see this (FINALLY) in San Diego in June......I have (I think) the original cast recording, and the original German cast recording, and in either languge, I just love it!

My sister is in the Dreamcoat Chorus for the San Diego stop, and I aksed the Choir Director, she said as far as she knew Amy was still in.
It said "The Narrator is now being played by Natalie Hill"

Sounds like a replacement to me - darn!

I saw an understudy in Chicago and she was dreadful. This production is not good.

I thought it said in the paper her (Oregon where Joseph is currently) that Amy was only out for a couple stops. On another note my nine year old cousin is in it, in the little chior. He loves it.
