anyone know how awful (or not) the rear mezz seats are at the broadhurst? $116.50 does kinda blow ...

Mezz at the Broadhurst is fine. It's a single balcony house and about 1,100 seats total. $25 for the rear mezz is a steal.

$116.50 is the going rate for plays these days, so it's not an unusual price for the orchestra and front mezz.

The playbill.com article is rather confusing, they make it sound like the whole company is transferring but then they also said that the NY cast will be announced shortly. So is the whole UK cast transferring or not? Personally, there's a few American actresses I'd love to see tackle Gertrude.

Bearing in mind that the US is the only nation that has played the UK at its own game and won, I think the lesson has already been learnt.

I wonder if this production is going to fall into Roscoe's category of "Brit chic crap"?

It sounds like, given the timeline, the remainder of the London cast will also be part of this production. They're on tour the week before the show gets here.

I'd count on it. While $116 is the average top price, that in no way justifies selling 90% of the seats at that price. Jersey Boys is just as bad. And people aren't exactly trampling over themselves to see Hamlet, Jude Law or not.

Well, $34 tickets more accurately. $7 service charge each? Yikes! No wonder I almost always buy my tickets at the box office.

I usually bite the bullet several times a season and pay full price for I show I really want to see. Sooooo, I ended up buying a single for the September 26th matinee, Row D, 3rd seat in. I figured I'd rather be safe than sorry. When Denzel Washington was in Julius Caesar, it was sold out before it opened (or almost) on the basis of his name alone. Ditto Dustin Hoffman in Merchant of Venice. And mediocre reviews did not inhibit the box office of either show. And although Jude has sporadically appeared on the London stage, his only show in this country was Indiscretions -- some 14 years ago. Can't wait to see this!

You guys are in for a treat! This production is excellent! And Jude as Hamlet was surprisingly amazing! He's very natural and really brought his own stamp into this role! The production's gorgeous... as is all the Donmar productions ~
