If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
I am so SO glad they're getting a cast album but I have some doubts that they'll be able to stay open long enough for this to make any impact on the box office, especially for the post-New Year months. But I can definitely see myself having this on repeat for a good chunk of time.
Harvey Mason, Jr. producing this is pretty wild, in a great way. He knows the genre and is the CEO of the Recording Academy.
I’m super excited about this album officially happening. I bet it will be on repeat for me; the songs are all bops. Hoping this also leads to a Tony nomination for its score.
Was wondering if this was still set to drop on Friday as I hadn't heard anything lately, and according to the Amazon product page it looks like the release date has been pushed to April 14.

That could be for the CD release; there could still be a digital release this Friday.
Can’t wait for the recording. The music was great. I saw the show on Broadway. The book was GODAWFUL. One of the worst I’ve ever seen. It destroyed the show. How could the director have fixed it? The musical numbers were great. Everything I hoped for. They should rework the show in L.A. where there is a large Korean community. Throw out the book & it will work. There is a lot of interest. Just tour the show & forget Broadway.

Agree about the book, but I don’t think going to LA is the answer. It has had a better book, it could’ve done well on Broadway. The off Broadway production got excellent reviews.
What're the chances they'll just scrap the recording after all?
Not that I'm in the music business, but didn't they finish recording the songs months ago? Though I'm sure more work like sound mixing is to be done, I can't imagine there's so much that they'd need to push it back to May. Is this a possible budget thing?
Id say very likely. They're probably out of money and no one's willing to invest. Cast recordings rarely make money on their own, they're advertising for the show and a public service of preserving part of it. But there's now no show to advertise and the longer the wait, the less pressing the latter feels (unfortunately). Broadway is a business.
Whatever the reason for the delay, I’d say it’s not scrapped since Sony officially announced May 12 as the new release date with “exciting updates coming soon.” I wonder if it had anything to do with Harvey Mason producing the Grammys and this album at the same time (guess which would have taken priority) or if they’re doing something special like including other K-pop artists in bonus tracks. I think this release is a priority for the team since they keep teasing that this isn’t the end of the road for the show, and an album would be the show’s calling card for whatever is in store. It would also drop during Tony season on the slight chance the score is nominated because hey, as per the rule change, you don’t need to have seen the show to vote for it.
I love that they’re turning this album release into an event. Not bad timing with awards season. It is too bad they couldn’t drum up excitement like this for the actual show.
That made me so excited for the rest of the songs/videos that will be released over the coming weeks. They’re coming for some dark-horse Tony noms with these.

My No Guts, No Glory prediction for this year is Kpop overperforming compared to expectations. Musical, Score, Choreography, etc. I'm tempted to even go with Luna, but Actress in a Musical is such a strong category...
I can see an outside shot at Score, Choreography, Scenic and Lighting Design (they love a transformation of a theatre). This video alone makes a case for all four of those. There’s so much competition in Actress, but I could see her being picked over Lorna perhaps.
