Karen has been out most of the week, Josefina, I'm not too sure if she has or hasn't but Haley Carlucci is wonderful as Maria! Cody Green has apparently been out a lot recently, and Joey Haro, who plays Chino is out due to injury I think.

Kat was on for Anita! Good for her. Cody is STILL out. And what is going on with Josefina now?

What's going on with Cody? I mean he danced at the Tonys, so is it a vocal problem? And come on, Karen has been out ALL week? All of her post-Tony award-winning week she has been out? I feel really bad for her and I hope she's okay, but part of me finds the current attendance issue on Broadway to be pretty ridiculous.

Oh gosh its been like understudy central over at West Side Story this past week hasnt it? Makes sense though if Karen has bronchitis or laryngitis that it would keep her out all week. Dont know what is up with Cody Green and now Josefina.

People who went to the CD signing: I know people reported that Karen was sounding horse and sick but what about Josefina and Cody? Any indication they might be really sick as well or is there just some weird thing going around at the Palace?

I agree, if Karen has bronchitis, a week out totally makes sense.

But Cody Green is a huge mystery.

I'm shocked they even have enough people to have five understudies on and five other swings(?) covering the understudy tracks? Is that right?

Janice Niggeling- Not on the site, must new
Chrisian Elan - Shark Swing

They have a lot of swings.

Kristine Covillo is also a swing. Odd that she's not on the site since she's been in the cast all along.

Why was Alena Watters the Anita standby for such a short time? Now she's not in the cast. That was very random. She's in one of my playbills as the standby.

I feel bad for the Stage Managers, Dance Captains, Wigs and Wardrobe, with so many no-shows it makes their jobs twice as tough.
So early in the run, this is a disgrace.

Wow...I always get a small thrill when I see the understudy board (as long as who I came to see is in) because they will bring something new and fresh because they don't get the chance to perform as often. Sounds (and looks) like that isn't the case with WSS.

DancingThruLife04 and myself went in disappointed about not seeing Karen, but we were interested in seeing what the understudy brought to the table.. and trust me, it was not what we wanted to see and hear.

The first time I ever saw the show, I saw Haley Carlucci as Maria and she blew me away and continued to do so the night DancingThruLife and I went. It's sad that not all the understudies can be up to Ms. Carlucci's par.
