I saw Yanira as Anita on Sunday. She was actually good. Except, her singing was all shouting and she didn't act the rape scene out well. She didn't even scream or anything during it. It didn't have the same feeling as when Karen does it. Her dancing, however, was actually very, very good.
I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&.
"Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."
There's gotta be something in the water at The Palace.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
Karen was in for the Saturday matinee and I'm so glad I got to see her. She was PHENOMENAL. I can't stop thinking about her performance. The production as a whole has flaws of course, but it's worth it for Karen's performance.
