I do think that her singing was shouty and her dancing could have been a little tighter, but I still enjoyed her performance.
Now, mother always said that whenever you hear a strange, frightening, and potentially life-threatening ghostly chant coming from the dark woods that there's one thing that you should do: Not wake the others and go investigate it alone...
Yes, I just don't get it. Not sure if it was because she was under rehearsed, but I thought she was mediocre, and was really surprised at her dancing (or lack thereof).
Just got back from the CD signing. Everyone showed up. Karen was sick so she didn't sing one of her numbers, but she was so sweet when I told her I saw her as Anita four times and that I was at the Tony Awards cheering her on when they announced her name.
Matt sang "Something's Comin'" and then he and Josefina sang "Tonight" and an abridged version of "Somewhere." Both were in fantastic voice.
Curtis, George, Cody, Karen, Josefina, and Matt then all signed CDs. I'm glad I was able to go...
I would have attacked her had she NOT shown up for the signing. Thank god she was there so I could gush to her about how brilliant she is.
What I really wanted to tell her was...please be in the show as much as you possibly can to spare audiences from the horrendous performance your understudy is giving.
But, WAT, how COULD you have attacked her if she WEREN'T there?
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

It's all good. Apparently if you have the flu (or whatever illness she has), you'll have no problem smiling and chatting with fan and signing a couple hundred CDs...I figured they would all show up to this event and I'm glad I was able to be there.
I feel bad for everyone who had tickets to the show this week, I mean Karen sounded tired and kinda sick at the Tonys so when she was out Tuesday I was surprised but not really but then to be out all week and have the understudy not really be up to par?
Wow! What a shame. Maybe she shouldn't have done the signing OR the Tonys! Not meant as a criticism, but wow, that's SICK.

I was at the CD signing a few days ago, and her voice sounded very hoarse. When she responded to the fans she spoke in a light whisper. She might have laryngitis.
The day that I went to see the show, I wanted to know if Karen was out before I bought tickets so I walked up to the stage door and asked the stage door woman if she was out.
The stage door woman said that she indeed was out and that she had bronchitis.
