What does she have? Bubonic plague?

"What does she have? Bubonic plague?"
Apparently, her Bronchitis turned into an upper respiratory infection.

Is it possible that she could fired if she misses a lot of performances?

No.
Haydn Gwynne was out of Billy for about a month due to injury.

No? It's not possible? Wow, so few people have job guarantees like that, her agent must've gotten her a great contract.

I have another question.
Do the actors get paid when they are out of the show?

It's not possible?
- Sure anything is possible. But highly unlikely here. The girl just won a Tony, and she has been really sick at home for 2 weeks. Although she attempted a performance, and had to leave at intermission last week. She is legit sick. Cody Green has been out of the show for over a month now, and he hasn't been fired.

No, I read it on another forum and possibly here, but I do believe that's what happened to her.

I highly doubt the producers would fire the one element of this production that has been universally praised by the critics.
A far more likely scenario, if her illness is serious, would be her taking a hiatus from the production for a month or so to recuperate fully, and them announcing a temporary replacement for the time she's out (perhaps Bianca Marroquin?).
Either way, I hope she gets well soon.

She definitely won't be fired. She is the best part of the production and without the show really falls apart from the sounds of it. I have a feeling she won't be in for the rest of the month and possibly a little of next. Even if she is better she will need a few days to get situated and gain some energy.

And get her dancing back up to snuff.

was that really necessary?
for the record, bronchitis IS an upper respiratory infection.
i don't believe the actors are paid while they're out.

PalJoey, shut the F*&^ up. You are so annoying, we know you have her dancing, deal with it. The world isn't perfect and neither are you. Get over yourself and give her credit. She is doing something she is not comfortable doing pretty darn well 8 times a week. I doubt you can do it. Every time her name comes up you make some nasty comment about her. Try to look at the positive parts of her performance, her acting and singing. We have also discovered that she is a better dancer than her understudies and they are dancers... what does that show you about her? So before you make another nasty comment I would like to see you go up on stage and perform the role of Anita. While you are at it get the stick out of your a$$

Chita, don't bother. You're arguing with a brick wall.

I think PalJoey was just being funny, no need for curse words.
I really hope Karen gets better, and is able to go back to the stage soon. It sucks so much that the first time she gets her Tony, she isn't able to perform for all this time. I just really hope she is getting the medical attention she needs, and that when she is back on that stage, she stays in the show for good and is able to give it her all.
She was so great during the Tony performance and sounded fine during interviews, it comes as such a shock that she has been out for so long. Get well soon, Karen!
Ljay, even if I had my reservations with Karen's performance (which I have expressed before), I don't think I'd see the show without her as she really lights up the stage when she is on, and well, now she's the sole Tony-winning performance in the show, I hope you and your parents get to see her. I want to take my parents to see the show as well and would hate for them to miss Karen's performance.

wasn't Laura Benanti eventually "let go" from Into the Woods after breaking her neck?
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.
