And talks about whether Hugh Jackman will be involved.
Also, an amazing tidbit from Sir Ian McKellen.

"Hammering out the dates" sounds much realer than before.
I also love her saying she's turned down Sound of Music (including Carnegie Hall). Didn't Laura Osnes do that? Are they really in the same bracket?

I believe what Chenoweth's been saying for two years or so is that she will do ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY, but she's always added the caveat that the actual dates were contingent on her pre-existing TV schedule. Now that she's no longer on a series, it's actually happening as part of Roundabout's 2013-2014 season.
The last I heard, they were aiming for The Sondheim in the fall (and no, Hugh Jackman is no longer involved.)

Posted: 3/26/13 at 8:01pmIf you have Chenoweth as Lily you can have almost anyone as Oscar- Mandy Patinkin, Kevin Kline, Norbert Leo Butz, John Lithgow, John Larroquette, there's a dozen different ways to go.

Posted: 3/26/13 at 11:00pmIf and when this happens I hope they don't skimp on the size of the orchestra. And they should go after Michael Blakemore to direct. I think he is the only director who could get the style and tone just right. It's not an easy show to pull off in that regard. And I hope they'd cut "Life is Like a Train", the song that brings the show to a complete stop. And lastly how about Beth Leavel, Andrea Martin, or Jackie Hoffman as Letitia Primrose?

Posted: 3/26/13 at 11:04pmScott Ellis will be directing, morosco. He's been involved since the reading Roundabout produced with Chenoweth, Jackman, and Andrea Martin.

Posted: 3/27/13 at 12:16amWould Kristin and Mark Kudisch work together after their break-up? He could do the John Cullum role. (Though could anyone do it as well as John Cullum?)

Posted: 3/27/13 at 12:52amSondheimFan, if you read the article being discussed here, it's pointed out that Kristin and Marc Kudisch have already worked together since their break up. They did THE APPLE TREE together for Roundabout in 2006.

Posted: 3/27/13 at 1:09amAndrea Martin is of course the obvious choice for Primrose but I'd love to see what spin Megan Mullally would put on her.

Y'know, I"m sure she will be perfectly charming and all that, but for crying out loud... There was a time when shows like 20th CENTURY were, you know, *original*, and it seems like all we're getting these days are half-assed revivals, juke box shows, and wild demonstrations of tech over substance.
I really hope somewhere out there we have folks writing original, Broadway-calibre stuff, because soon enough, we're gonna run out of warhorses.

She's too old, too desperate, and the show, produced by the "how-can-we-do-this-on-$1" Roundabout at the Sondheim will be too small, too cheap, and accompanied by one piano, banjo, and kazoo.
I'll pass, thanks.
