Mr. Tommy Krasker, Executive Producer for PS Classics can be reached through email at: tkrasker@psclassics.com
I received a kind and informative response from him after writing and as I said, they are interested in recording La Cage. The issue is the producers and their willingness to spend for it. So please, I ENCOURAGE ALL OF YOU TO KINDLY AND APPROPRIATELY LET MR. KRASKER HOW MUCH WE WANT TO SEE THIS ALBUM PRODUCED!!! If he continues to receive letters of interest and requests, I'm sure PS Classics will keep the idea in mind and keep looking for a way to make it happen. We all saw how they stepped up to record Pacific Overtures at the last minute, so there's no reason to think they won't try to do the same here if the interest, desire, and passion is known.
Mr. Philip Chaffin, A&R Director of PS Classics can also be reached by email at: pchaffin@psclassics.com
LaCageAuxFollesFan2, can Jerry Herman, Mr. Greenblatt, Mr. Kramer and Mr. Richards ALL be reached at 211 West 45th St.?
Thanks!

Well.
I hate this show.
I hate this revival.
I hate the cast.
I hate the score.
I will never buy this CD.
But I will sign your petition anyway, because I know how important it is to you.

La Cage -
It would be really nice if you could provide a copy of the petition WITH the signatures and comments to each of the 3 leading cast members. If nothing else they should be allowed to read the comments written by the fans of the show. There are some wonderful messages for each of the leads.

Posted: 2/18/05 at 12:55amOh not to worry, the leads with get the petition for sure. I hope they alone will see and can make the producers understand just how much LA CAGE is LOVED by its fans and a recording IS deserved. PS...saw it tonight again...hmmmm time #5 and frankly is is just as fresh and as funny and as delicious as the first and that makes the theatre grand for me.

Posted: 2/18/05 at 1:01am5 times! I'm so jealous. It's good to hear that the show is still so fresh. It would be nice if SOMEONE involved with the production and publicity for the show were as enthusiastic about it as the fans. I posted a note on the other board about this subject. I live in DC and people here go to NY all the time for theatre. I haven't run into one person who knows that there is a revival of La Cage on Broadway right now! There's been absolutely ZERO advertising for this show. It's terribly frustrating.

Mamie, no offense, but the cast has only been performing this show for a little over three MONTHS! I would hope to Goddess it would still be FRESH! It's not as if this is the original cast of the Fantasticks still performing 40 years later.
Come on, sign people! We are so close to our goal! And as I mentioned before it is such a visually stunning score!

Mamie,
If it's any consolation, I'm from the D.C. area, too, and we've been to see it twice =) But you're absolutely right, the advertising for this production has been pitiful. I remember someone awhile back in another thread on here mentioned being in Times Square and looking up and around, seeing huge billboards for nearly every show except La Cage. It's true and it's such a damn shame! I find it incredibly frustrating that between advertising and the album, the producers don't seem to want to support this show as well as they could/should.

Posted: 2/19/05 at 10:51amTWO MORE DAYS! Since Monday is a Holiday here in the US and I am assuming there will be no mail delivery on Presidents Day, WHATEVER the total may be on Monday night at 11pm will be the petition that gets sent along with some strongly worded letters. That will be two weeks exactly (14 days) that the petition ran online alone. Im STILL hoping to get this number well past 400 - PLEASE HELP MAKE THIS A REALITY!

Just signed: #331.
Saw the show on Tuesday for KNOB, and they were simply amazing. Not to mention incredibly gracious. Seriously, if they don't make a recording, I think I'll cry.

I've signed it, I'd love to see a recording of the La Cage revival.
Although I've been reading the boards here for a while, I've only just registered and this is my first post here, and what prompted me to choose this thread was my annoyance at some of the responses on here...either people sign it, or they don't. *tuts*
Anyway, I hope the recording goes ahead, I saw the show in December and I'd love a permanent reminder.

I don't think your petition is silly. I'm all for getting more shows recorded both new and revival.
But I hope everyone who signs will back it up by agreeing to buy 10 copies of the CD when it comes out. Give as gifts, donate one to your local library, etc.
If the week it came out 4,000 copies sold the labels WOULD take notice.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Posted: 2/25/05 at 6:24pmat this point it looks like it's not going to happen and it's just not fair. this revival should be preserved. if for no other reason then to capture some brilliant performances. Gavin, Gary and Daniel are gifts from the gods and it's a shame that there is still no news on a recording for those of us who are stuck on the opposite side of the country and can't see the show...
