LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE coming to Second Stage

Didn't know there was a musical of Little Miss Sunshine. Making this film into a musical seems dubious to me. But looking at the promo pictures, the van looks amusing, and Taylor Trensch is cute.

LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE coming to Second Stage

I see this arriving on Broadway by Spring 2014. A theater like the Golden or the Schoenfeld would be a good fit for this show.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

The reviews were dismal. Unless it has been completely overhauled, this wont be going anywhere.
"The sexual energy between the mother and son really concerns me!"-random woman behind me at Next to Normal "I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello

Georgi James, who played Olive, and Madi Rae DiPietro, who was one of the pageant girls, are both in Annie.

I know it got massacred at La Jolla, but I would imagine they have retooled/rewritten/rewhatever by now.

Anytime Finn has a new show I'm over the moon. Can't wait!
....but the world goes 'round

Having seen the film, I think it would make a great musical. A series of mishaps with lovable characters. The movie cast was perfect, too!

Count me in the optimistic crowd for this. It's too good a match (on paper) of writer and material for me- hopefully they have been able to really overhaul it.

So this makes how many roles where Taylor Trensch is effectively mute?

From what I understand from those who saw him in BARE, he's better off mute.

Well I heard him sadly and I can confirm that this is so....

Pretty painful to listen to.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

And that's that whole revival of Bare in a nutshell. But we're talkin' about Little Miss Sunshine so let's get back on track, y'all.

Bettyboy, the NYTimes article said that there are only like 3 songs from the La Jolla production. Sounds like a big rewrite. I'm gonna trust Finn and Lapine. And now, I shall return to my Falsettos OCR listening party, in progress. :)

"Just annoys me that someone who basically can't sing seems to still be working musical theater."

Does he even sing in Matilda?

If he does, it's in the chorus. Not sure if he doubles as an ensemble member. He literally just screams random words as Matilda's brother. That's it...

There's a rumor circulating that Loretta Swit has been approached to play Olive.

MAJOR rewrites and overhaul. Lapine really reworked the problem areas from La Jolla.

The new script is MUCH less convoluted.

LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE coming to Second Stage

I saw it in La Jolla. It ranks as one of my three least favorite shows ever. It should be noted they were reworking it pretty much nightly in La Jolla, too, it didn't help (I saw it right before lockdown...that night we were told we were seeing some numbers for the first time anywhere, including a new finale they had put in hours earlier)

Thank. God.
