I wouldn't say i'm a die-hard fan - as in, I wouldn't travel to see this show, but it came here and I enjoyed myself. I thought it was a great story - whether or not it followed the actual storyline, I don't know. But if you can get a cheap ticket, or one that you think is affordable, I'd say go. The sets are beautiful to look at and the performances are good. I just enjoy live theater, so I had a great time.

If you can get that kind of a deal on tickets and the show's in town, by all means, go see it!! I concur that the show is "dull," but it has its moments. "Astonishing," "The Fire Within," and "Somethings Are Meant To Be" are highlights of the score (for me at least), and Maureen McGovern is worth seeing. I'm a crazy Sutton Foster devotee, and while I found her Jo to be one of the headlining strengths of the Broadway production, she will forever be identified with Millie (so they stuck her back in the 20s with 'The Drowsy Chaperone,' right?) moreso than Jo March...I'd like to see someone else have a crack at the role. I haven't seen the tour cast, but I've heard great things about Kate Fisher and her two understudies, Julie Foldesi and Susan Spencer. If the tour was playing a venue in New England, I'd consider going...it's not great, but it certainly isn't unbearably bad either.

Well, the tour recouped its investment as of May 06, so while that may not make it a financial blockbuster and the best show ever, I guess it does mean the show did have some financial success on the road. Perhaps it will do well in the regional & school markets as well.

And for the record Folkyboy, the first date was San Diego, not Boston.

B12B- I am nowhere close to a die hard Little Women fan. When the tour was in Cleveland I bought a ticket on a whim, and went into the theater with low expectations after hearing people talk about it on here. However, I ended up loving it. Sure, it's nowhere near perfect, but it has good music, a decent book, and wonderful performances. I thought it was absolutely charming and thoroughly entertaining. It ended up being my favorite show of the Broadway series.

I say if you have the chance, catch the tour.

I saw the tour a few weeks ago--got 4 free tickets (valued at 70 dollars a piece, I believe--I have NO idea why DSM's tickets are so expensive). I personally found a lot of the show to be boring, but it has some really rich moments. I thought the Jo was fine on tour--no complaints. Maureen was great in her...small part. Her song in act 2 gave me goosebumps though. It has a lot of beautiful music.

Overall, it's an OK show. If they could cut off about 30 minutes of it, it would be much better. I'd like to see it again. Not for 70 dollars, but definitely for 21.75. That's a steal for a night at the theater. re: LIttle Women tour... - Struggling?

$21.75......for ONE TICKET?????

Damn Broadway. Raising prices on everything. With these prices, no one will go see musicals.

I'm horrified that a few people on this thread actually believe the story of Little Women is the show's weakness. ;-0

Well, the story itself isn't all that interesting, but it's an enjoyable night at the theatre, if not a life-changing, mind-riveting one.

I didn't even bother to see it at the KC. I thought the show I saw on Broadway was deadly dull and I didn't need to pay good money to go through that again.

(Maureen was the highlight of the show for me and I still didn't want to see it again!)

I saw the show in Boston for student rush price - $25. If you can get cheap seats, why not? I don't think it's worth higher prices though.

I saw it at the Kennedy Center for $10. It was an enjoyable evening. I had seen it on Broadway but I actually preferred Susan Spencer to Sutton Foster- which shocked me because I am a huge Sutton fan.

Just saw Little Women last night at Kennedy Center with comp. tkts. Its a dull show, some of the numbers, especially Jo's, gets the audience excited...and when tragedy ocurrs, it does strike an emotional chord. Act 1 is just too long. Should have been tightened. Maureen is singing great, her acting is just ok if that. The Jo is a great singer actress. If you can get comps or get a student discount, I recommend going for the sake of theater.
