Maybe half joking. Stranger casting has happened - and who knows what kind of work Beanie will be looking for then ?

I recall when Bette was sick --- that the understudy (not Donna Murphy) went on. Would the same apply to Funny Girl? Does the understudy typically perform if the show already has an alternate for a particular performance? I wonder how that works. Or is there a third category. Understudy, Standby, and Alternate for specific performance? Curious if the understudy will now become the standby."
I don't have any info on this to say for sure but my guess is Julie will go on if Lea can't. The Donna Murphy thing was a unique setup because Murphy is a bigger name and I'm sure she only came to the theatre on days she was scheduled
Donna Murphy was the Tuesday night alternate, she wasn’t Bette’s understudy. Linda Mugleston was the Dolly Levi understudy for all the lead ladies playing Dolly Levi. Julie Benko is the Fanny standby and upcoming Thursday alternate. She’s not an understudy as she’s not part of the regular cast - she only plays Fanny and no other role.

I can't believe you're serious but Beanie will not be "looking for work" and if she were, the very bottom of the list would be to return to a production that fired her, mismanaged her and humiliated her, take that production on the road, and subject herself to critics reviews on a successive continuous basis throughout.

That is absolutely hilarious. Oh my God. IMAGINE.
Beanie is done with FUNNY GIRL. Her dream of playing the role was brought to fruition. The intended career changing opportunity backfired. This is just a hiccup in her Broadway career. Her future work on film and television projects hasn’t been affected one bit as outside of Broadway, the mainstream masses are oblivious to what’s going on. Sutton Foster did 7 Seasons of the TV series YOUNGER and millions of the show’s audience had zero knowledge of her extensive Broadway career. Broadway is at the bottom of the entertainment totem pole. Unless you follow it, it’s not a main interest to mainstream audiences. I have friends IN the film/television industry who had no idea Jennifer Coolidge had worked on Broadway. No one cares, sadly.
Oh, I know bb, I was laughing at the thought that someone would ever think she will be back in a musical in a main role and/or she would EVER tour with a show. LOLZ.
Beanie is probably done with Broadway for a while.
Hopefully she can use her negative experience with Funny Girl to fuel her performance in Merrily We Roll Along when they shoot the opening scene in 20 years.

Beanie isn't about to give up on Broadway. She's already preparing her comeback as Blanche du Bois in STREETCAR opposite the Stanley of Bobby Conte.
Both box office and capacity were slightly up last week, with the star out for half of the performances. Not much can be deduced except that the producers had solid financial reasons to worry about the show’s advance with the current cast.

You are aware that you're not required to actually type out and post every imbecillic thought that pops into your head, right? Must be a slow week over there at Shady Pines.

Out of curiosity, where would you rank opera, dance, stand up comedy, and circuses? I think sports probably beats film, especially when it comes to what's critically lauded.

Apologies if this has been discussed but anyone else think they'll release a Funny Girl album once Lea joins?

I disagree. I still think it's considered a major achievement by people. Especially within the industry as many don't have the durability to do it.
My totem pole reference is regarding the mainstream audiences. The entertainment industry validates Broadway and knows the rigors of what it takes. Mainstream audiences are oblivious to Broadway and their cluelessness to the Broadway predigree many of the actors/performers they love have is quite evident. They only know them for their television or film or music work unaware these performers have Tony Awards and a an extensive Broadway background.

Not unless she pays for it herself.

I sincerely doubt it. The show has already been…less than kind to Beanie? That would be twisting the knife deeper into her back. No. Definitely not.

Absolutely. No one wanted an album with the current Fanny and I think there is an interest in it with someone who can actually sing. Also, no one is thinking about hurting one's feelings long after they have left. Lolz.

I guess it’s safe to assume puppies, kittens, butterflies, unicorns and fairies inhabit your glorious wonderland where everything is warm and fuzzy. The real world is quite different, Virginia. Only the strong survive and thrive. We can take whatever is thrown at us. We don’t stumble when the knives comes out. It’s a cruel world. Always has been. Certain types hope otherwise. We know how those fare in life.

For what it's worth, I was watching a video on YouTube comparing Lea and Beanie singing DROMP last night. Guy is a BIG fan of Beanie's (his words), Lea not so much. Not the point. Anyway, the guy said that Beanie suffered some sort of vocal damage when she was 9 or 10 and had to relearn how to talk and sing. He said she is probably "being careful" with her vocal choices for fear of damaging her voice again.
