No doubt Lea is a star. But she isn’t giving a star turning performance. This year is interesting in that there aren’t any showy roles. Also, assuming Kristen doesn’t get nominated, this will be all first time nominees in the lead actress category. Seems like Caissie has the edge over the other presumptive nominees being in a critically acclaimed show with a solid performance AND being consistently working hard on Broadway for 20 years.

I generally like Lea as a performer, but she definitely does not deserve a Tony for this role.

There is a surge for Christianni Pitts from Two Strangers. She's half of a great show with a bigger role and more stage time than these women. I would not counter her out to not surprise.

Shoshana Bean will likely be featured per friends who saw previous workshops of The Lost Boys.

I think as of this moment, it is Caissie Levy's to lose. Anything could happen, but I do not think Lea poses a big threat. There is love for Marla, but I think the Tonys tend to take the leading performance categories "seriously" and would be shocked if a (very good!) performance in a parody musical won out.

Christiani Pitts could get a nomination, cannot imagine a world where she wins.

I wish Audra’s Gypsy had opened this season. She would have been a lock for the Tony for sure.

I sort of disagree. I think pretty much everyone in the cast is only competent and not doing anything really spectacular, although I admit Ben Levi Ross as
Mother’s Younger Brother is probably the best in the role that I've ever seen, and Nichelle Lewis as Sarah is horribly miscast. I think the cast is being over-praised due to the timing of this show and how well regarded it is. Even the production itself is nothing spectacular.
