Have they given up on creating any original key art for this show? Are we stuck with the generic pink title and the three-headed monster?
It is currently 5:40am. I am 7th in line. First person here at 3:30am
Very exciting to read in the middle of the night here. Hope all goes well for you!
At 6:40am, there are currently 22 in line.
Also, there is now a “Line Karen” around #15 who has already been policing everyone, so if you have a friend to wait in line for you, prepare for an EARFUL

well, assuming some people in line probably got up before 5 am to get one of the limited signed posters, this sounds less like policing and more like someone not allowing entitled joiners to simply slip into line (potentially) hours later than someone who has patiently planned their morning/day.
It was also only 1 person who joined at like 6:15am when the line was still a small mass. Her position was never threatened since it goes to the first 50 people who buy a ticket.
Also, it appears we are at 30 people as of 7:53am

It doesn't matter if it's one person or 10 people. We live in a society where you shouldn't cut a line. Your friend does not get to hold your place when other people woke up at dawn to be there.
What’s the ticket deal at chess? I’m over here at Liberation and the line is very nice, very respectful, and getting very long for the $19.70 tickets
Oh I just saw, first 50 ticket buyers get a signed poster. Ehh
I see someone has already put up one of today's signed wondowcards on eBay. They are asking $695US.

Two decent orchestra seats for the same price seems like the better deal.
But when people are paying that amount for Othello or Just in Time signed windowcards, this is all seems apropo? (especially if the stars of the show don't stagedoor)

Oh HELL no. I did not wreck my sleep cycle and get to a theatre at 5:30am just to sell the window card for a ridiculous premium. That thing is going on my wall and may all my houseguests be jealous!

I am already jealous. 😊
Just looking at the BwyWorld article that went up this morning with "meet the press" photos & gosh Nicholas Christopher is sooo adorable. Seeing his smiling face really lifted my spirits while riding in to work. 8 weeks to go until I get to see the show. I hope everyone stays healthy & has a great rehearsal/previews period!

Does the original Chess exist somewhere to be screened? Hearing this is a completely new book and I would love to be able to compare it to the original.
Admittedly after seeing the same team's Galileo and the Mayer/Beanie Funny Girl I am leery... but hopeful as I have liked the songs they dropped. Really like Aaron and Lea and would love this to be more than a concert looking for a narrative. But I also really liked Denzel and Jake and I am not getting that 900 back.

The closest things to an "original" of this ever-changing show would be the concept album and the first London staging. Both can be easily found on Youtube. The London recording I've seen was of abysmal technical quality. Back in the eighties few people had decent pocket size movie cameras.
I'd actually recommend the first Broadway version. Somewhat better technical quality and artistically the best version I've found, but still hard to follow, therefore a difficult sell to wider audiences. Which is why earlier in this thread I posted a little rant advocating for a really radical simplification.
Interestingly we got a few hints that Mayer/Strong seem to have similar ideas: focus on the love triangle and provide the necessary background information through an onstage narrator, namely the Arbiter. The expanded Arbiter role isn't exactly new, but I hope this time they will really follow through with the simplification.
The second problem with the Broadway version was the dark, cynical tone and lack of a happy end. Artistically that's what the concept calls for but again bad for business. Let's see what they'll do about that.

They are currently doing the Chess sitzprobe today and Tim Rice and Benny Andersson are there. I'm surprised Bjorn isn't there as in the message Tim sent them for first day of rehearsal it said they were all looking forward to meeting everyone but maybe he'll arrive later.

I see they have announced an extension into May. I’ve tried getting tickets in April but the telecharge website is acting up and doesn’t seem to be working with the new dates yet.

Apparently it's for Capital One and AMEX Members? I have both but was never sent a code or anything...
